Grin

Might as well get going on this thread, though it is rather a tease at the moment.

The ECMWF model is hinting at the possibility of some much colder weather next week, perhaps bringing some snow to Scottish hills. BUT the met office are still going for quite a wild and wet affair instead.
The ECMWF shows quite an interesting scenario really.

@FourTeaFallOut

We've had quite a bit of snow but it's falling like - I don't know, like soft hailstone that don't want to have much to do with one another? So snowballs are a bit of a none starter. Still, it looks pretty.
Apparently it is due to the very dry air so it is like powder - I guess like the sort of snow you will see when skiing?

Maybe? I've never been skiing. (I can't bring myself to go away somewhere colder than I started Grin).

Central London at 11 this morning

Looks like snow here tonight and tomorrow

Vintagevixen · 08/02/2021 14:12

Enough snow here in coastal East Sussex to build a very tiny snowman in our gate post and have a decent snowball fight with DD. I am happy 😁.

DrunkenKoala · 08/02/2021 15:00

I’m North Kent. We had more snow overnight and this time it settled 9n roads and pavements. It’s continued to snow lightly all day, probably had about an inch settle. More heavy snow is forecast for this evening and overnight. DD and I have just been over the park and there is still quite a biting wind.

OublietteBravo · 08/02/2021 15:05

It’s been snowing all day. And yet there is less settled snow now than there was this morning.

TokyoSushi · 08/02/2021 15:34

Odd weather here in Cheshire, clear blue skies, then clouds over and is like an absolute blizzard for 2/3 minutes then stops. Snow is tiny flakes that never quite make it to the ground, just blowing about!

Not nice for dog walking 🥶

Snow showers here in Durham. Clouds are moving steadily westwards, and I can see the snow clouds coming and going. Though each contributes little snow, the layer is gradually building up.

beenrumbled · 08/02/2021 17:34

Light snow showers on and off all day here, but nothing settling. Small flakes driven on the wind. Manchester

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/02/2021 18:24

All of our snow has ended up as nothing too. Either someone stole it and has a big drift nearby, or, more likely, because the air is so dry, it has just evaporated.

I'd say we have had about 10cm now - the most I think I have seen in the 8 years I have lived in this house! Looks like it won't be melting until at least the weekend too. The pavements and side roads are an ice rink though!

megletthesecond · 08/02/2021 21:18

Flakes all day in Hampshire. Nothing has settled.
The flakes are beautiful though. Eastern snow is amazing.

beenrumbled · 08/02/2021 21:26

More snow in the last hour or so. Enough to dust the patio and shed roof in Manchester.

Ginfordinner · 08/02/2021 22:26

We have had loads of snow warnings, but very little snow. It is going down to -3 tonight, then we have heavy snow forecast for tomorrow, then night time temperatures of -4, -4, -3 and -3 this week.

Ginfordinner · 08/02/2021 22:28

Just seen Norfolk on the news Shock. It's nothing like that here.

EventuallyDeleted · 08/02/2021 22:59

My part of Hampshire looks as though it's been very gently dusted with icing sugar but it keeps blowing away.

Perihelion · 08/02/2021 23:36

Snow in Edinburgh GrinGrinGrin and lots of the East Coast of Scotland. Lots of wee intense showers and temp low enough for it to settle.
Having the usual Hmm at the Met Office warnings for Scotland. The Amber snow warning for a part of Scotland doesn't kick in till 3am but it's already causing significant disruption to the roads.
I've never seen the main Central Scotland Motorways on Google traffic map be showing orange and red at this time of night.

Dementedswan · 08/02/2021 23:40

Ne coast... we have maybe 2 cms, not quite enough to Bury the grass but enough combined with freezing temps to cause the bin lorry some trouble today. They were sliding down our small incline in out estate .

dottiedaisee · 08/02/2021 23:50

Here in west Kent we have had a decent amount of snow...absolutely nothing in comparison to 2009/10 but still enough to be stranded in our road today and have now missed my vaccine ...sooo annoyed 😠

beenrumbled · 09/02/2021 07:32

Another smattering of snow over night - not even a CM in total, but enough to make the side roads treacherous.

Its starting to snow very gently again.

dottie thats rubbish bout your vaccine. Sad

EventuallyDeleted · 09/02/2021 07:36

A bit more overnight in Hampshire, a proper dusting, the sort that doesn't shift when you walk on it, I've walked over this bit of patio twice this morning

Snow watch
OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/02/2021 07:39

Today's risk appears to be primarily down eastern coastal areas, penetrating into central areas in northern England and across to Glasgow in Scotland.

A sneaky heavy snow shower or so is possible in the far SW. Elsewhere, perhaps some scattered snow showers, but remaining dry for many.

Dementedswan · 09/02/2021 08:09

Does that include the North east coast?
