Grin

Might as well get going on this thread, though it is rather a tease at the moment.

The ECMWF model is hinting at the possibility of some much colder weather next week, perhaps bringing some snow to Scottish hills. BUT the met office are still going for quite a wild and wet affair instead.
The ECMWF shows quite an interesting scenario really.

Started very slowly here in East Surrey but we've got an inch or two so not bad at all! Finally started to get cover on roads etc at 4pm. Seems to have stopped now.

Etymology23 · 07/02/2021 17:40

I figured if you couldn't beat them, you might as well join them and had a lovely afternoon in the snow, even if it is a vaccine plan scupper-er. A good few inches here with drifts of more than a foot in places and still snowing. Very much a winter wonderland.

Lots of slush down side roads which I think will freeze solid overnight so I think it will be treacherous tomorrow.

While we haven't had snow locally, I've been very glad of the drying winds with low humidity. Pavements and roads nice and dry now. Lots more needed to dry up the local swamps

Hello
May I ask please - If we've avoided it thus far do you think we've dodged it it is tomorrow a risk?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/02/2021 20:23

It entirely depends where you are Dusty.

@OhYouBadBadKitten What is the chance of us getting much snow up here in Newcastle please? I’m panicking about my drive to work on the north east coast tomorrow and Tuesday.

Snow is so pretty if you can stay home but I hate driving in it.

marthastew · 07/02/2021 20:29

In West London. It's been snowing all day without settling as the the temperature has been hovering around 1. It's settling now that the temp has dropped below zero and still snowing steadily.

Oh no, I thought London had got off free.

Hope it doesn't head my way. Not on the forecast but clearly that's not definitive.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/02/2021 20:40

Scarlett I'm afraid you are quite likely to get snow showers on and off for the next two or three days, some of which may be heavy.

We've had snow alllll day but it's been light and not settled. I'm pleased because I live a few miles from the main road and have a 20 mile drive to work. (Sussex/Surrey/Hampshire border)

Lol. Surrey Hampshire borders

@OhYouBadBadKitten 😩 Thank you for replying, best dig out my wellies!

Slight dusting here overnight in Manchester.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/02/2021 07:40

Sorry Dusty, I'd gone to bed. Some flurries today for you, maybe a little more, but nothing substantial is showing at present.

We woke up to a light dusting of snow in Bedford. It’s still snowing a little bit, but I don’t think it will amount to much.

Titsywoo · 08/02/2021 09:27

We've had more snow overnight in East Surrey - enough to fill in all the footprints (we had an inch or two yesterday). Still snowing now fairly heavily although Met Office says not! We are pretty high on the North Downs at 183m above sea level so usually have more than most in our area. It's such powdery snow! Even when it comes down heavily it is still tiny grains.

LIZS · 08/02/2021 09:32

Snowing again. One of our local vaccination centres has closed for today

drinkingwineoutofamug · 08/02/2021 09:48

Snow finally. Most got blown about. But steady stream of small flakes blowing about. Dog is excited 🙄
So packing thermos and going for a snow walk in the fields

No worries thanks for your reply.

Currently looks like someone has sprinkled icing sugar outside. Long may that last !

LunaHeather · 08/02/2021 11:00

Light snow here
I wouldn't venture out anyway but hopefully the lighter it is, the quicker it will go.

Hm2020 · 08/02/2021 11:27

Thick enough in central London to build a snowman and roads are still pure white finally nice excuse not to wake up and start home schooling Grin

Really? And the Tube hasn't gone wrong?

I wonder if it)s heading north then, I just thought there'd be nothing in Central.

FourTeaFallOut · 08/02/2021 12:21

We've had quite a bit of snow but it's falling like - I don't know, like soft hailstone that don't want to have much to do with one another? So snowballs are a bit of a none starter. Still, it looks pretty.

gingercat02 · 08/02/2021 12:21

We have had a very light covering over night on the NE coast and a bit more as the morning has gone on. Still not sufficient for snowmen or sledging 😭

LunaHeather · 08/02/2021 12:24

Four "soft hailstone that don't want to have much to do with one another"

Brilliant description, i love it!
