i'm just plonking this here, will be back later to fill in the details, but the Met Office have just named Storm Dennis for Sunday the 15th Feb.

In the mean time, here have a load of weather warnings including an amber for snow.

waves at Borntobequiet Variety would be good.
Perihelion that's what normally happens here, they empty it in a day but it's only gone down an inch in a week. I haven't seen any sparrows for ages, just blackbirds and they obviously don't use the feeder.

GloriaSmud · 21/02/2020 11:53

Wind gusts for Monday, 6pm. Could be another named storm?

And more rain - just where it's not needed.

Please can I ask what the weather is looking like for early Sunday? Dd will be getting the ferry home from Calais around 6am I think.

GloriaSmud · 21/02/2020 12:45

Looks like it could be quite a windy/choppy crossing, mogloveseggs This is the wind gust chart for around that time.

No! I start a new job on Monday and it's in a flood area. I need the roads to be clear.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/02/2020 13:05

I don't think Mondays storm will be a named storm by the Met Office, but it's possible it will be named by Met Eireann. Either way, more wind, more rain.

It's not allowed to rain on Monday

mogloveseggs · 21/02/2020 13:16

Sad thanks @GloriaSmud
I'll have to message her to remind her to take the travel sickness tablets

DartmoorDoughnut · 21/02/2020 14:26

Apparently we might get snow here next week 🤷🏻‍♀️

hoochymamgu · 21/02/2020 16:11

Yes, the snow rumour. Two people have told me this today Hmm what do you think, Gloria and Kitten?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/02/2020 21:39

I think that any snow that did fall would just dissolve! To be honest, there's not much risk away from northern and Scottish hills. Just more rain and wind.

So east coast here. Last hour the winds got up, worse than the last two weekends I would say, and feels like it could do some damage. Just appeared from nowhere. Apparently we're forecast torrential rain at 4am too.

wetinworcs · 21/02/2020 21:41

Is this wind ever going to stop? Angry it's spoiling my early night and keeping me awake again Biscuit

colouringinpro · 21/02/2020 22:08

Like Australia's horrendous fires, this stormy and wet UK winter is exactly what climate scientists forecasted 20 years ago Sad

wetinworcs · 21/02/2020 22:23

This wind is getting ridiculous, I wouldn't be surprised if we have damage. It's fast gusts all the time and then sudden faster ones hitting the house.

megletthesecond · 21/02/2020 23:24

I just want a quiet night.
We stayed in a premier inn the other day and it was well insulated. Didn't hear a peep of wind or rain all night.

630am. Not as windy but now we have torrential rain with the wind. And theres supposed to be a storm coming? What's this then?!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/02/2020 07:07

I think the continued weather is fraying everyone's nerves!

Kitten can I ask a question about the lightningmaps? Do you know if the coverage is patchy in places?
This morning at around 4.20 am we've all been woken up by thunder including my 12 year old who sleeps through most things usually. I saw the lightning with my closed eyes while still half asleep, it was that bright, and the thunder followed about 1 second (2 maximum) later, yet it didn't show on the map. The closest was about 1.5 km away but that couldn't be that one. I've seen this before that lightning that was very close to my house didn't show on the map. Do you know if there are gaps?

Supersimkin2 · 22/02/2020 07:36

Clapham clattered all night with the wind - wasn't expecting that. It's nippy too, thought it would be nice and clement.

AmelieTaylor · 22/02/2020 08:19

(Central South East) another incredibly noisy night. Very heavy skies, it looks like it’ll rain most of the day. A 6ft brick wall down in the neighbours garden. Definitely the weather as cars parked along the road in front of it, so not hit or anything.

needsmorebooks · 22/02/2020 08:33

A night of high winds here in the East, still continuing now at same strength, seems as bad as the storms from the last couple of weeks and all feels a bit relentless. No rain but leaden skies.
