Something to really watch. GFS model is really looking a bit crackers next week with high temps of perhaps 35c mid week and night minima in the mid 20s. I'll post more tomorrow, but it doesn't look like the traditional school holiday cool down

Hi Kitten Smile, hope you're well? Just hit 30 in my corner of London. I've been out. My drive is totally in the shade, so the car was cool and Co-op was almost freezing! I might have to go back for a chat with the staff later, if it all gets too much!

Need to finish painting skirting boards really, but I think I'll just sit here and possibly doze the day away!

Bellasblankexpression · 25/07/2019 10:56

It was 30 in my flat at 8.30 this morning and has been steadily rising since!
Trains are screwed so DH is home and we are trying to keep the temperature down inside but failing.
I’m 16 weeks pregnant and feel like an actual human puddle already!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/07/2019 11:41

I think AC can really struggle but I'm not an expert by any means.

I'm pretty good Mo :) Taking it easy today.

My temperature gauge went up 2.5c in one hour. Up to 32C now. My location record since I started keeping records about 10 years ago or so is 34.5 in 2015

I used to make indoor obstacle courses for dd where she (or I) wasn't allowed to touch the ground. That was quite fun.

Up to 33 here now. I can tell if I’m more human or puddle any more!

DH’s office has air con but apparently he’s heard from colleagues it has died today - could be a coincidence but perhaps it can struggle

RosaWaiting · 25/07/2019 11:57

I worked on a place which had air con in meeting rooms but they packed up above a certain temp and they told us that was normal. My fridge also won’t work above 35c. Hence I wondered.

Titsywoo · 25/07/2019 11:59

32 degrees here in Easy Surrey!

OYBBK is it definitely cooling down and raining tomorrow? Met office says so but earlier in the thread you thought they might be wrong about temps dropping?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/07/2019 12:04

Definitely cooling down tomorrow, but I think it may take a little time in the far SE and London to be felt (unless the storms drop the temp sharply)

Looks like we may have storms brewing across the channel. This may knock the record temp on the head.

Sometimes when AC runs hard and constantly the evaporator coil can freeze up.

It's 34 here now and rising. I've dotted fans around and flatly refuse to clear up the kitchen until the sun has moved to the other side of the house.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/07/2019 12:24

Starting to develop cumulus here. It feels early, but it's clearly the start of storms developing. It's not holding the temp rise back yet.

Worth noting, if we develop storms tonight or this afternoon , they will probably be rather violent and as they won't be elevated as they were Tuesday night, treat them with more respect. There's a lot more potential for frequent cloud- ground strikes.

Spent the morning sewing a lining for the kitchen blinds which are dark blue and radiate heat into the room.

cut up a cream duvet cover and sewed four tabs to the edge and hung from cable clips hammered into the window frame.

BlackeyedGruesome · 25/07/2019 12:34

Arse to scary thunder storms.

BlackeyedGruesome · 25/07/2019 12:37

Our forecast has changed from sun and one cloud all day to thunderstorms.

FaithFrank · 25/07/2019 12:38

It's 34 here in north London. We don't have any clouds yet.

It's 26 in the coolest room downstairs where I am. I have work to do, but am feeling completely wiped out. I can't even bear to turn on the laptop, it will only generate more heat.

Following CartoonGiraffe's advance and have poured water on the patio outside the door. I have no idea if it makes a difference to the temperature in here, but the dog seems to like it.

RosaWaiting · 25/07/2019 12:39

I love storms!!

magimedi · 25/07/2019 12:52

Big cumulus coming in from the Channel, here. And has gone somewhat hazy. 31.5C.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/07/2019 13:02

Useful report magi thanks :)

My temp is heading up again after a 30 min pause. Reached 34c. Clouds have gone, but there's a light breeze now.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/07/2019 13:23

We were meant to be in Belgium this week. Had to cancel for various health reasons and looking at the weather there I'm relieved we didn't go.

BlackeyedGruesome · 25/07/2019 13:32

No clouds at 12.24 when I closed the blind and curtains. Lots of big fluffy not quite towering clouds by 1ish when I looked out. Now they are wider looking than tall. Forecast changed. The thunder that was 50% likely now and at two has reverted to sun again.

W mids.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 25/07/2019 13:33

Not much cloud up in Leicester yet. Just very hot. Met office forecast has changed to thunder at 3/4pm.

LittleSwede · 25/07/2019 13:35

Heavy rain in Hertfordshire now! Totally unexpected!

bookworm14 · 25/07/2019 13:36

I’m on a bus in central London which is hotter than the surface of the sun. Bring on the thunderstorms, I say.

LittleSwede · 25/07/2019 13:39

It stopped raining here but now have a mixture of dark clouds and intervals of sun...
