Thunderstorm watch summer 2019

Seems a bit silly having multiple threads going when it might be quite a lively summer. It looks lively again this week anyhow.

We have met office thunderstorm warnings for the next three days.

Tomorrow storm potential looks to be areas away from the SE, including northern England and the Midlands, but I'm also keeping an eye on the SE for tomorrow night. By mid week the storm potential really grows though and by Wednesday we could have some really cracking storms.

Thunderstorms are notoriously difficult to forecast. Not only whether they will happen, but where they will happen. I'll see if I can find the link to the excellent met office tweet about that earlier this week.

It's all being driven by very hot air being drawn up from Africa, through mainland Europe, which could see temps close to 40C. We could see temperatures touching 30C by Thursday. It's going to be humid and uncomfortable I'm afraid.

Storms are starting to kick off all over the place now.

Breeze picking up and grey cloud in Durham. Still 32 in the garden.

storms are popping up both across the south all over the place and also to the west of the northern storm which appears to be growing.

I'm a bit worried I'm going to miss out. That would be sad.

Oh bloody hell. It looks like everything is bypassing Darlington. I may get into the kids' padding pool fully clothed in a minute

Bloody glorious sunshine and unremitting heat still here in Essex. I yearn for a storm and am keeping an eye on the map hopefully

I'm near Hythe, Kent (temp is 35°). Skies are building up and getting some rumbles of thunder. If it rains I am dancing outside.

Just heard a rumble!!

Had a couple of short downpours on Surrey/Sussex border but no thunderstorm as yet. Really hoping we get one!

We had a one minute downpour in Bedford. Humbug.

Bit of rain, more thunder and some lightening now (Hythe, Kent)

A few raindrops here but stopped now. Sky is very dark though so I am hopeful for a proper storm - Cranbrook, Kent here.

It’s rapidly clouding over here near Sittingbourne in Kent. A cool breeze has started. I have great hopes for a storm because our dog is away on holiday so I will be able to enjoy it. I’ve put the tent up in the garden so I might sit in there to watch it.
