Seems a bit silly having multiple threads going when it might be quite a lively summer. It looks lively again this week anyhow.

We have met office thunderstorm warnings for the next three days.

Tomorrow storm potential looks to be areas away from the SE, including northern England and the Midlands, but I'm also keeping an eye on the SE for tomorrow night. By mid week the storm potential really grows though and by Wednesday we could have some really cracking storms.

Thunderstorms are notoriously difficult to forecast. Not only whether they will happen, but where they will happen. I'll see if I can find the link to the excellent met office tweet about that earlier this week.

It's all being driven by very hot air being drawn up from Africa, through mainland Europe, which could see temps close to 40C. We could see temperatures touching 30C by Thursday. It's going to be humid and uncomfortable I'm afraid.

We've got thunder in Edinburgh even though it's only about 13C GrinGrinGrin

Nearly 2 hours of occasional rumbles and some torrential rain. Trams are suspended due to flooding. Noticed on flight radar planes n holding patterns North and South of Edinburgh as too much lightning activity near the airport....think the Forth bridges have been hit a few times.

A warm and muggy 22C here (Leicester)
Had drizzly rain around lunchtime but otherwise expecting heavy rain/possible storms overnight/early tomorrow morning.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/06/2019 18:39

Hi Gloria :)

Nice to hear the storm reports. They are looking pretty confined at the moment.

I'm not quite sure what to make of the risk tonight at the moment. I'd hazard a guess at another Kent/Sussex grazer. I'm not sure if anything will penetrate further inland.

'Everyone' else appears to think that the storms will occur across a swathe from the SE with the main risk roughly to the east of the IOW through East Anglia. So I may be being overly cautious.

Hi OYBBK (DD2 has finally finished her GCSE's so should now be able to spend more time in the MN Weather Department!)

I think you could be right about those areas being the main ones for thunderstorms but think it's also a case of 'storms could occur anywhere that gets the thundery rain' as well tonight/towards tomorrow morning. Could be an interesting night when it comes to who gets storms!

There is nothing here in the northwest of England yet but its cooled down a bit so there may be something brewing .

BlackeyedGruesome · 24/06/2019 21:05

Wine post gcse

BlackeyedGruesome · 24/06/2019 21:28

don't want to get it darked on Sam.

It is overcast and oppressive here. I feel like there is something brewing. on edge and agitated.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/06/2019 22:24

I'm getting quite excited about tonight. Going to try and get an early night because it could be rather disrupted. It looks as though the storms could be more westerly than expected.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/06/2019 22:26

Main risk regions are I think still Sussex, but also into London. Sometime in the early hours.

Smelborp · 24/06/2019 22:34

I’m excited too - in Oxfordshire so probably won’t have much activity.

I’m in west Sussex and nothing yet!!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 24/06/2019 22:48

Found you all.

It’s been horrible & muggy today. I’ve had a god awful headache on top or a cold that’s being made worse by hay fever. Still it’s been nice not having to wear a jumper!

Thunder keeps coming & going on my forecast (South Warks) but heavy rain looks almost certain, it’s meant to be sports day tomorrow.

PestoCaffeinisto · 24/06/2019 22:49

I’m in East Sussex and also nothing yet here...

LittleSwede · 25/06/2019 06:11

Unless I slept through it, I don't think we had any here in Herts, just lots of rain...

Mugginess affecting ASD DD I think, massive meltdown before bed last night and super grumpy at 5:30 this morning!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/06/2019 07:30

It did just turn out to be a Kent and East Sussex affair. Lots of heavy rain more widespread. Looks like the lightning aspect missed London though.

Pretty rubbish nights sleep have to say. Everyone in the house was restless.

Definitely a fair bit of post GCSE Wine has been consumed, Blackeyed!

We have the rain but no storms here (Leicester) It's so dark though this morning that if it weren't for it being 16C outside, I'd say it was a rainy Autumn/Winter morning!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/06/2019 07:35

It must a massive relief for them to be done Gloria!
