Thunderstorm watch

To complement the Summer weather thread.

Tomorrow could see some thunderstorms in places across England, but by tomorrow evening, the main area of risk appears to be in the central southern areas (revised forecast from earlier) , where frequent lightning and small hail could form in any storms that evolve.

Seems to be slow moving over the West Country, going north. Heck of lot of rain, so presumably a lot of flooding in some areas. Not a good time to be driving on the roads I would think.

Rafals - what it's like where you are?
I've been watching the documentaries about Paddington Station, and often there's a problem with flooding on the rail link to the south west.

There's more rain and TS crossing the Channel. It looks like it'll be a while till it hits the south coast. But at the moment, it just feels airless here (a few miles north of Southampton), and as though it's that calm before the storm, but with a bit of a sense of doom.

Lightning and a few rumbles in West Berks. Seems to have died down now....

Very jealous of the thunderstorms, we very very rarely get any. We are the loons who get really excited on holiday when there is a massive storm and everyone else is moping about the horrible weather

Just had our first lightning in Cardiff. Might have to go indoors from the summerhouse.

Just counted 41 strikes of lightening in the distance (over East London) in 2 mins!

Are any of you watching on www.lightningmaps.org because I think it's currently showing more activity than I've seen in a long while.

Just got one! Lightning and the first rumble... it says it will go on all day tomorrow, surely not all day?!

Lots of thunder and lightning here in Cornwall but not much rain (where I am) It's so hot and weird. And it's going to get louder later.

Fabulous forked lightening display outside here in North Cornwall, not much thunder though.

Thunder and lightening been going for about 10-15 minutes in SE London, rain started too now. View obscured by surrounding buildings but lightening flashes brightening room through my open curtains.

Just started here IOW. Some good flashes but not overhead yet.

Lots of lightning and thunder in South london. No rain as yet. Far more lightning than is showing on lightningmaps.org.

Oh lots of rumbling and a few flashes OYBK don't worry dd is camping with the scouts.

I do love a good storm. I have taken down the sleepover tent from the garden, girls are all inside, wine poured- bring it on. (South-West, near Bristol).

Continuous sheet and fork lightning in NE London, with continuous rumbling thunder. Never seen anything like this in London - only ever in southern France/Italy. Would be even better without the light pollution!

Same here in SW Irene! Also raining though. Can hear a few people on the street caught out...!

South East, the thunder is continuous rumbling and crashing with lightning flashes, but no rain. It’s very noisy.

SE London/Kent borders. Excellent storm!! Loads of lightning for ages now. Lovely thunder rumbles and a lot of rain.
Dd (8) has gone to sleep in my bed with dh as she was scared, so not a lot of room for me when I get round to going to bed! Oh well..
