Thunderstorm watch

To complement the Summer weather thread.

Tomorrow could see some thunderstorms in places across England, but by tomorrow evening, the main area of risk appears to be in the central southern areas (revised forecast from earlier) , where frequent lightning and small hail could form in any storms that evolve.

We,be got really dense fog here in Sittingbourne. I don’t know much about weather, but isn’t it a bit odd to be going from thick fog to thunderstorms in 3 hours? Which is what the forecast is saying......

it's a bit odd, but remember fog is just visible humidity.

We have light fog here (SW London, for those who didn't notice my previous post).

What was really odd was the walk I went for on Sunday evening in beautiful sunshine and fog.

Must have been right on the edge of the bank of sea fog that came in later.

Dull and overcast here (Leicster) but sun attempting to break through. It's warm though (20C) and very humid. Will be an interesting to see where storms occur today.

Ds and I had that on the Kent coast at the weekend. He came home and write a song about it.....

Amber warning issued for torrential rain/thunderstorms. Warnings for tomorrow and Saturday as well.

We went from possible thunder this morning to rain all day to no storms forecast and now they are back on the BBC forecast for all afternoon. I wish they'd make their mind up!

Very foggy here but warm humid & raining. It's like a tropical forest out there.

In London the storms didn't clear the humidity anyway.

Sun is breaking through occasionally and we have some dark thunder-type clouds billowing here. I'm watching a line of showers running from Cambridge to Luton here ~ formed about 30 minutes ago and is moving in Leicester's direction.

I'd quite like to go out, I desperately need to go to the bank but its tipping down.

Just like yesterday, the forecast keeps putting off the thunder here. It now says 6pm. If I'd known, I'd have hung washing out, instead of having to have the heating on this morning.

That was a good guess I made re the worst potential flooding risk for today. Coincides nicely with the amber warning area.

Has there been any floods ?

AccuWeather (?) tells me we have a thunderstorm right now. It's one of those thunderstorms with blue sky, sunshine, no rain and silent thunder which are all happening whilst my neighbour is mowing the grass

Kitten/Gloria - I need to get from Cornwall to SW London, was planning to drive this evening but I think it will be better leaving it til around 9am tomorrow given the amber warning area. DH disagrees. What would you say? It's been nice & dry weather almost all day here today, doesn't seem like a storm is coming further up country! Thank you as always for your heads up on these things, I check here before I check the BBC weather site now!
