Thunderstorm watch

To complement the Summer weather thread.

Tomorrow could see some thunderstorms in places across England, but by tomorrow evening, the main area of risk appears to be in the central southern areas (revised forecast from earlier) , where frequent lightning and small hail could form in any storms that evolve.

There's a yellow rain warning across southern England, and it says it might be thundery.

Is there still much more thunder to come?

it's raining - I'm glad, but I'm just surprised how wrong they were!

Huuuge blob of rain/thunderstorm over London/the SE at the moment. It's been moving in a NW direction this morning and I'm wondering how far north it's going to get.

I’m in the city of London. We’ve had fairly epic thunder and lightning with torrential rain on and off over past 2 hours

this is making me think the forecast we had for the next 2 weeks was possibly wrong as well....certainly accuweather and BBC got it spectacularly wrong for my area today.

I think that London storm has moved a bit further north than was expected and instead of moving east to west and along the south coast, it's sort of heading in a NW/Birmingham direction at the moment.

We got drowned without even the fun of a storm. Had to give up on our day out and now stuck in a mega traffic jam with steam coming off us.

Watching a mahoosive storm over the Netherlands at the moment. Think that's what will give us our storms and rain for overnight/tomorrow.

Had sun and wind all day here in East anglia. It's grey and windy this evening.

Would love a storm, but can't see it tonight.

I eventually got home didn't rain a drop at home. grrr.

Weather warnings for tomorrow and Friday for rain/thunderstorms.

Well accuweather was spectacularly unaccuweather yesterday.

Kids and I got soaked in the sudden downpour. We did have a couple of flashes of lightning but nothing very exciting.

Tomorrow does look potentially very floody indeed again for some tomorrow. It's quite an interesting spell of weather really.

Google weather says 90% chance of thunder from 12pm here in SW London. How much more thunder can there be?

Where do you think it's most likely to be floody, OYBBK?

impossible to tell Irene. At a massive guess, I'd guess somewhere between Hampshire/Oxfordshire through to the Bristol area, but it is a guess based on the GFS maps.

I'm not sure whether to move the risk area eastwards some. Nevertheless, there is a moderate risk of some seeing torrential rain today in the South and potentially Wales from around lunchtime.

Lightning maps already show activity in northern France.
