So some snow starved areas have finally had a little taste of snow. What will happen next?

met office weather warnings I'm still very unsure as to why they have overnight warnings for central areas, but there you go. Most likely areas to see heavy snow overnight are NE England into Lincolnshire but I think a fair bit may be rain near the coast.

I don't really do seasonal forecasting but a few things stand out.
The article is a month old and is full of the most random mish mash of weather scenarios I've seen! Last year was also very low in solar activity and look how warm it was so it makes no sense.
Also GFS shows a rather settled spring like change next weekend as a high pressure settles over Europe in such a way to bring very benign weather.

Hope you are right.... I have too many sites that need fine above zero weather.

RunDougalRunQuiteFast · 08/02/2015 22:42

Ah thank you! Thought it was a bit rubbish ...

girliefriend · 09/02/2015 09:39

-2 here this morning brr!!

Looks very pretty though Smile

Perihelion · 09/02/2015 15:07

The benign weather is bringing us in Edinburgh somw beautiful sunsets. Saturday's was amazing, the whole sky was pink/red.
Almost felt spring like yesterday, partly due to being warmer than recently and because it's not getting dark now till after 5pm.

DiaryOfAWimpyMum · 09/02/2015 18:02

Peri Yes he sky was beautiful on Saturday wasn't it? My mum was up at 5am on the Saturday morning and the frost was so thick she thought it had been snowing.

DiaryOfAWimpyMum · 09/02/2015 18:03

*the sky

PestoSnowissimos · 09/02/2015 18:15

I've given up on snow now Sad

RunDougalRunQuiteFast · 09/02/2015 18:57

Very nearly hot weather in Berkshire today - was working on the allotment today in the sunshine in a t shirt! Beautiful - is this spring?!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/02/2015 21:53

I wouldn't get carried away with the spring hopes cos then you get fooled into planting too early and it all ends in frost bitten disaster. Or perhaps that just me!

RunDougalRunQuiteFast · 09/02/2015 22:55

Not tempted to plant yet, OYBBK, allotment still covered in bits of wood and debris! It was gorgeous today, though, enough to get me through the last month (hopefully) of winter.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/02/2015 07:36

:) it is a massive incentive when the weather is nice at this time of year.

fog warnings for some of the south. Issued somewhat late!

After 2 lovely days, 'tis orribly dull here (Leicester) and a chilly 3.2C Have a feeling it's going to be like this all day as well Sad. I hate these dull winter 'meh' days.

girliefriend · 10/02/2015 16:57

Thick thick fog here this morning, couldn't see more than about 10 feet in front of you!!

BlackeyedSusan · 11/02/2015 12:03

'meh'

GloriaSmud · 11/02/2015 14:08

Yep, definitely another chilly 'meh' day here ~ 4.7C. Think there's rain coming from the west for the end of the week though to clear away the meh-ness!

Perihelion · 11/02/2015 15:55

After blue skies and sunset loveliness, it's been cold and dull. Still no rain though.
Don't know if I dare look at the forecast for next week's school holiday......we must be due some rain.

meglet · 12/02/2015 22:06

run it was perfect allotment weather on Monday wasn't it. We popped in on the way home from school, lots of people were getting ready for spring.

Newbiecrafter · 13/02/2015 13:30

This greyness is REALLY getting me down.

It's been raining heavily here. I don't mind rain, at all, but the constant grey is not good! I miss the 'ooooh it might snow' weather updates, sooooo much! Blush

Any chance of a change in the weather anytime soon? Can I order some snow? And if not snow, then blue skies and sun, please?

Xxx

heronsfly · 13/02/2015 13:39

I would like to order some snow too please Grin
Kent coast here, and apart from a few flakes a couple of weeks ago, we have had nothing wintry at all Angry

GloriaSmud · 13/02/2015 14:13

'Tis just so 'meh' and now we've got showers to add to the 'meh-ness'.

As far as I can tell, next week looks slightly chillier with a slight drop in temperatures but it looks brighter and there should be some sunny spells. Night time frosts might be back for some areas (especially in Scotland and they might get a few wintry showers) but apart from that, there's nothing of a snowy nature for the rest of the country Sad
(I was hoping for a good load of heavy snow next week as it's 1/2 term for us )

Newbiecrafter · 13/02/2015 18:48

Meh sums it up really well.

I love the sounded of rain on the windows and now it's dark it feels better as it's no longer grey.

Fingers crossed to brighter skies next week.

Thanks Gloria!

I follow ukweather watch model discussions and have done for a couple of years now, but am still utterly clueless about the models and what the lines mean. I am in awe of you and OYBBK and the fact that you get the charts.

I,m really not that rubbish at learning stuff, but weather models -aye Yale Yale yaye yaye sheesh nada norra bloody clue. Grin

Happy valentines day to you all for tomorrow!

Xxx

Newbiecrafter · 13/02/2015 18:49

That didn't work.

Shoulda said aye yaye yaye yaye yaye.

digerd · 14/02/2015 07:59

SE.
Have noticed the ever increasing daylight hours for a few weeks now.
Not dark until 5.45 now Smile.

Had a Hebe blooming for months. Just waiting for my Camelias to burst into flower.

Perihelion · 15/02/2015 21:44

Crocuses have bloomed today. Temp 11C and Spring like. Still no rain to speak of and none forecast till Thursday.

Am feeling a bit conflicted as I'm fucking great at dressing for cold weather, but was sweating in my coat and boots today Grin
