Following on from the Boxing Day snow thread we have weather warnings from the met office for snow down part of the east coast and widespread ice. Around Northampton could also see some snow today. Take care over night and into tomorrow morning.

The theme of rather cold carries on through this week, especially away from western coasts. Some central areas could struggle to get above 0C even in the day time. Some sharp frosts. The next few days look dry and cold, with perhaps some freezing fog, especially over any snow fields. At the moment it looks like things might become milder through Thursday with rain moving in. GFS disagrees with this though and keeps things cold.

GFS then keeps teasing with a possibly dramatic return to school snow wise for some. Its a long way ahead but as ever I will keep you updated. However i may not be always able to answer specific questions due to real life so if you need to know urgently please check out the met office

Spent most of the afternoon clearing the drive of snow. It is currently under snow again. Could you stop with the snow dancing already pretty please Grin

pigsinmud · 29/01/2015 18:48

I said mine was graupel, but I don't actually know. We thought it was hail o start with, but then decided it looked like little snowballs. It was softer than hail and gradually turned to big soft flakes.

meglet · 29/01/2015 19:07

we had a few minutes of snow around 5:30 in Hampshire Smile .

not enough though, it's not a winter wonderland out there.

MrsVamos · 29/01/2015 19:09

Bitchy

Could you try snow dancing - you might send it down to me ?!

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 29/01/2015 19:16

The snow broke me. I am curled up in bed with a hot water bottle and my muscles hate me Grin You sure you want the snow? Wink

Newbiecrafter · 29/01/2015 20:05

We had rain and some snow between 4 and 4.30 this afternoon. The rain was mixed with sleet and snow, but stopped soon after. It was mostly rain and sleet with about 3 minutes of snow just before it stopped.

Shame it stopped so quickly but just seeing snow cheers me up so much!

Fingers crossed for more overnight.

SewingAndCakes · 29/01/2015 20:11

We've had more snow this evening; enough to cover the path I dug out and gritted this morning. May be another snow day for my kids tomorrow.

ShipwreckedAndComatose · 29/01/2015 20:16

Yes, yes! I want snow

MrsVamos · 29/01/2015 20:21

Bitchy

Seriously ? You're asking me if I want snow ?

YES PLEASE !

We actually have a yellow warning for tonight apparently but I don't trust them.

Buggers have lied to me since last November.

LIZS · 29/01/2015 20:32

No , no more thank you.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 29/01/2015 20:50

Well if you fancy a drive and have a trailer there is a mini mountain on the drive you are welcome to spirit away. It was very wet snow so a frost will turn it to ice pretty quick though I am afraid

lubeybooby · 29/01/2015 21:12

pathetic attempt at snow just now in SW Leicestershire... temperature increasing as well. pfff :(

MrsVamos · 29/01/2015 21:21

Bitchy

Grin

Sorry. I'll be specific.

I want snow to fall from the sky and land all around where I live.

If I wanted slush I could go to Costco and get a mango smoothie !

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 29/01/2015 21:36

10cm thickness when it fell count as slush? Wink

Grin sorry it was the best I could offer.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 29/01/2015 21:45

No snow down here. Rumour that we might have had some sleet this afternoon, but I was inside so didn't see it.

PigletJohn · 29/01/2015 21:47

I did notice a Yellow Snow Warning on the BBC today.

Don't eat it

JillJ72 · 29/01/2015 22:24

^ spoils the fun. On netweather the snow is pink.

WorraLiberty · 29/01/2015 22:57

Yaaaayyyy! FINALLY!!

Huge white, wet snowflakes falling here - East London/Essex!

It won't settle cos it looks too wet but I've just woken my 12yr old up so we could stare at the street lamp together Blush

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/01/2015 23:13

yay for you worra :)

Streets are going to be lethal here in the morning following this evenings precip. The road is glittering away.

Unless we have a massive melt I am not getting to work tomo, mind you I don't think ds' school will be open tomo either. Lots more snow. Seriously now, enough with the snow dancing! Grin

JillJ72 · 30/01/2015 05:20

Sounds like v v icy pinpricky rain, horrible. Hoping the skies don't clear because it'll be awful in a couple of hours....

mankyscotslass · 30/01/2015 06:30

Wehad more snow here overnight - maybe another inch or so looking at the garden - not sure about schools being closed though - the primary closed early yesterday but the high school was open.

JillJ72 · 30/01/2015 06:32

The stars are out and cars are happily glittering with the immense joy of icing over. That's going to be fun to scrape....

I suspect it could have been graupel yesterday because it was an endless delivery of little white balls, but will never really know Grin

JillJ72 · 30/01/2015 06:32

mankyscotslass you've got snow!!

SpottyTeacakes · 30/01/2015 06:34

Boooo hisssss

No snow here Envy
