Following on from the Boxing Day snow thread we have weather warnings from the met office for snow down part of the east coast and widespread ice. Around Northampton could also see some snow today. Take care over night and into tomorrow morning.

The theme of rather cold carries on through this week, especially away from western coasts. Some central areas could struggle to get above 0C even in the day time. Some sharp frosts. The next few days look dry and cold, with perhaps some freezing fog, especially over any snow fields. At the moment it looks like things might become milder through Thursday with rain moving in. GFS disagrees with this though and keeps things cold.

GFS then keeps teasing with a possibly dramatic return to school snow wise for some. Its a long way ahead but as ever I will keep you updated. However i may not be always able to answer specific questions due to real life so if you need to know urgently please check out the met office

Heavy snow forecast for 5pm though...let's see

MrsVamos · 29/01/2015 14:12

Its starting to get cloudy here, but its that kind of 'snowy cloud', iykwim ?

I am mostly being optimistic today...Wink

FyreFly · 29/01/2015 14:23

WE HAVE SNOW IN RUTLAND! Grin Grin Grin

It was raining about ten minutes ago, then it turned to snow in literally the blink of an eye it was that quick. Now we have about 2cm of it on the ground. If It stops I think it will disappear quite quickly though; it's too wet and mild out there for it to stay :(

DiaryOfAWimpyMum · 29/01/2015 14:23

Snow all gone from Edinbrgh Sad

GloriaSmud · 29/01/2015 14:26

tak1ng I'm west Leicester, right on the edge of the city.
We're only forecast showers from now on but what we had was blizzard like for a bit and I'm sure I heard a rumble of thunder as well. Temperature's now 1.4C and there's more snow-looking cloud to the west. There's also precipitation in a line (showing here) running from Liverpool-Leeds-Scarborough at the moment that's moving south, so hopefully that might produce something a bit later.

GloriaSmud · 29/01/2015 14:28

Yay 'our' snow has reached you, FyreFly! Grin

FyreFly · 29/01/2015 14:32

It has, but it's gone now :( half an hour of excitement though. It's still lying but I think it will be disappearing soon.

I really want to get out there with the dogs whilst I can, but I'm waiting in for a workman so I can't!

elfycat · 29/01/2015 14:39

FyreFly I used to live in Rutland - loved it there. However we are Suffolk based now. It's cloudy, it's cold... come on snow!

NameNumber2 · 29/01/2015 14:45

I am so happy its snowing significantly in Norfolk and laying I am hoping if it continues into the evening it may stay ad build up. My DDs are going to be so excited when I pick them up.

NameNumber2 · 29/01/2015 14:45

Todays snow chance for me seems to have literally evaporated. I think we may get about 12 flakes over night tonight.

Very dark skies here in London. I am being optimistic that any rain will swiftly turn to snow, although have to go out for dinner centrally so please don't let it be the sort of snow that stops trains running...

MrsVamos · 29/01/2015 15:41

Swede

SE here. Sky is looking 'heavy' and getting darker.

I'm ignoring the fact it starts to get dark soon anyway. Grin

Its getting colder too, I am away !

Blush

I've also taken desperate measures. Been onto Claudias 'danceathon' thread to ask if she'll join in a snow dance.

GloriaSmud · 29/01/2015 15:58

Snowing again here.
Our energetic snowdancing seems to have worked in the East Midlands today!

magimedi · 29/01/2015 16:00

Just rain here on E Sussex coast - am thankful.

Pantone363 · 29/01/2015 16:01

MrsVamos · 29/01/2015 16:04

Breaking News.

We have.....

sleet. Angry

I live in hope that it keeps getting colder and turns to snow.

SpottyTeacakes · 29/01/2015 16:05

We had a bit of sleet. Typically, as we won't get any snow/haven't had any for two years, the parish have finally got a farmer with a tractor and snow plough at the ready to clear the main route to the main road.

MrsVamos · 29/01/2015 16:08

OH MY GOODNESS !

Its turning to SNOW !

SNOW !

Teeny flakes but it is SNOW !

It works ! Grin

FishyNibble · 29/01/2015 16:08
