Following on from the Boxing Day snow thread we have weather warnings from the met office for snow down part of the east coast and widespread ice. Around Northampton could also see some snow today. Take care over night and into tomorrow morning.

The theme of rather cold carries on through this week, especially away from western coasts. Some central areas could struggle to get above 0C even in the day time. Some sharp frosts. The next few days look dry and cold, with perhaps some freezing fog, especially over any snow fields. At the moment it looks like things might become milder through Thursday with rain moving in. GFS disagrees with this though and keeps things cold.

GFS then keeps teasing with a possibly dramatic return to school snow wise for some. Its a long way ahead but as ever I will keep you updated. However i may not be always able to answer specific questions due to real life so if you need to know urgently please check out the met office

tidytidy · 20/01/2015 16:55

Show off !!

sassytheFIRST · 20/01/2015 16:57

Sparkling - please do check in again later tonight so I can know whether we may be in for a snow day or not. Was snowing here (14miles away) but seems to have stopped now...

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 20/01/2015 17:14

Well I am not in the weather warnings, but both the Met and BBC say we are due snow from this evening until lunch tomorrow. Maybe it wont be anything significant for us, just little flurries here and there. North Yorkshire/Co Durham area.

Sparklingbrook · 20/01/2015 17:18

Actually it has stopped here for the time being sassy. Will keep you posted though. It was certainly starting to stick.

DiaryOfAWimpyMum · 20/01/2015 17:32

-1 here and icy. No snow at all.

ChippingInLatteLover · 20/01/2015 17:51

It's chilly here. There was ice on the skylights today!

SpottyTeacakes · 20/01/2015 17:52

The flooded fields have been frozen all day looked awesome!

mankyscotslass · 20/01/2015 18:35

Cold and dry here all day - the weather has a different feel tonight, a damp feeling - not holding out hope though!

Follyfoot · 20/01/2015 19:23

The white stuff has arrived in the Derbyshire Dales. Pretty wet snow, but the ground is frozen solid so I imagine it will settle...

FatJerseyPostXmasSpud · 20/01/2015 19:39

Jersey calling! Last night it hit -2oC up at the yard at 9pm with the horses. Couldnt touch metal gates or you no longer had finger prints, bins iced shut.

Hit a maximum of 5oC to but my god its been cold.

mankyscotslass · 20/01/2015 19:40

There is bugger all.

mankyscotslass · 20/01/2015 20:04

On the East Manchester/Tameside border - More or less on the A57 between the town centre and the Denton Island on the M60

leesmum · 20/01/2015 20:05

Few light flakes coming down in north Manchester Grin

mankyscotslass · 20/01/2015 20:06

More flakes here, seems to be getting heavier.

Namechangeyetagaintohide · 20/01/2015 20:07

Where's my damn snow ?!?

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 20/01/2015 20:10

Bloody sleet in South Manchester and the Met Office app has downgraded our forecast for a measly hour of light snow. Boo Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 20/01/2015 20:13

Nothing at all here in Worcestershire now.

SpottyTeacakes · 20/01/2015 20:16

Raining here (w sussex)

mankyscotslass · 20/01/2015 20:32

Very fine flakes but sticking to windscreens - not really lying though.

Just wish DH and DS1 were home so I could enjoy the will it/won't it lie excitement without worrying about the road conditions!

MrsVamos · 20/01/2015 20:32

SE here, not far from Jill I don't think.

ABSOLUTELY NO SNOW AT ALL.

Most miffed. Sad

JillJ72 · 20/01/2015 20:38

Damping outside, sounds like icy rainy drizzly stuff. Keeping an eye on UK Snow but don't think we're in line for a dumping or even a dusting. Sigh.
