Following on from the Boxing Day snow thread we have weather warnings from the met office for snow down part of the east coast and widespread ice. Around Northampton could also see some snow today. Take care over night and into tomorrow morning.

The theme of rather cold carries on through this week, especially away from western coasts. Some central areas could struggle to get above 0C even in the day time. Some sharp frosts. The next few days look dry and cold, with perhaps some freezing fog, especially over any snow fields. At the moment it looks like things might become milder through Thursday with rain moving in. GFS disagrees with this though and keeps things cold.

GFS then keeps teasing with a possibly dramatic return to school snow wise for some. Its a long way ahead but as ever I will keep you updated. However i may not be always able to answer specific questions due to real life so if you need to know urgently please check out the met office

Glasgow's getting a pasting on the snow front, just needs to come East!

DiaryOfAWimpyMum · 16/01/2015 19:09

Its dropped to 0.0 c but still no snow, we had the same as Glasgows getting this week, I would like it again.

DiaryOfAWimpyMum · 16/01/2015 19:16

According to my phone we should have heavy snow by now then light snow later Hmm

mankyscotslass · 16/01/2015 19:30

My DM has just called me - she says she has never seen the snow so heavy where she lives in Renfrewshire. She said the snow is falling so heavily it is like a wall of snow!

FatJerseyPostXmasSpud · 16/01/2015 20:50

Still nothing for Jersey. Sigh.

Think i need to move up north!

leesmum · 16/01/2015 23:14

BlackeyedSusan · 16/01/2015 23:54

-1 and frosty in N Bucks. Pink sky sunrise, cloud cover spilling in, bit of a breeze picking up. We may or may not see sparkly flakes fall from the sky; can see them at Swindon / Oxford but that's an hour away as the car drives! Happy Saturday. Keep on forecasting (when time permits) OYBBK!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/01/2015 08:27

Plenty of snow showers around today, but those in the east and south east may well miss out (although in central areas they well penetrate as far as Northampton.)

Sadly this snow band looks like it may turn into a rain band tonight, perhaps washing away some existing snow, but also meaning that those in the se dont get any - sorry - its just two or three degrees too warm.

At the moment it doesnt look like huge amounts for tuesday.

site is massively playing up for me at present.

Can I just put out a Freezing Rain alert this morning for those in Cornwall. Looking rather nasty in places.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/01/2015 08:30

Also ditto for places in Dorset.

Oooo I saw the sunrise developing further so went to take a photo and it was snowing very gently. Said sunrise quickly disappeared and we had a proper snow shower that has left a dusting on the road and pavements. Our calendar will say "snowed" (doesn't matter how much lol).

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/01/2015 08:35

lucky you Jill! Envy

There's snow (quietly this time so I don't frighten it away) GrinGrin

Lagoonablue · 17/01/2015 08:48

Raining in west manchesterHmm

youarekiddingme · 17/01/2015 09:08

South coast of hampshire showing chance of snow on and off over next week. How realistic is this? I'm not into panic buying but an inch and suddenly the co op runs out of bread and milk. If it's really likely I'll just make sure we are always on full supply!

meglet · 17/01/2015 09:10

I'm giving up on snow. The met office keeps teasing us with the promise of a few flakes, right up to a few hours before hand, then it wrenches it away. .

oricella · 17/01/2015 09:14

All our snow from Wednesday washed away on Thursday (very wet indeed) and then had to start from scratch - but there's a decent cover, so off to the fields it is this afternoon!

youarekiddingme · 17/01/2015 09:30

I know meglet last week we had 70% chance then changed to 38% an hour before. Then we had hardly any bad weather Hmm the following day was worse and the forcast was better!

Perihelion · 17/01/2015 10:17

Still cold, no snow Sad

meglet · 17/01/2015 10:26

youare I'll start a support thread for us southerners who are being cruelly deprived of snow.

EmilyByrdStarr · 17/01/2015 11:14

Just started snowing here in Suffolk. DM who lives in North Norfolk woke up to snow. Quite big flakes here, it's fine for today but I would like it gone by Monday!

BlackeyedSusan · 17/01/2015 11:35

fuck, though you had all got snowed in... just got a white out.

it is cold, and cloudy here in the w mids but no snow, and the ice on the roof has begun to melt so not sure the air is cold enough. inner cities have their uses when they keep you warm on non snowy days but are not so good when you want snow.

youarekiddingme · 17/01/2015 13:10

You really should meglet! Our chances have been downgraded again
