Keeping a small eye on Sunday/Mondays weather

It probably won't come off but I'm keeping a bit of an eye on Sunday and Monday.

Models show remnants of hurricane Bertha coming close to our shores and develop them in different ways. It's hard (for me) to de tangle which bit are Bertha but the results are, either nothing to worry about at at all (most likely scenario) or some potentially wild and wooly weather as two of the models develop some pretty tight gradient lows for this time of year.

GFS takes it across northern Scotland bringing windy weather to the north, ECMWF brings it across southern and central England bringing windy weather to the south. UKMO just produces a slack low which could bring in plenty of rain.

Will update with developments.

Waking up in Norwich it is cloudy yet dry and incredibly calm. Had some rain earlier in the morning xoxo

TORRO have issued a tornado watch for much of southern England.

Heavy rain and thunder rumbles in North Hampshire. Really hoping all rain passes by tomorrow as meant to be going to Portsmouth but it looksa bit shit

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/08/2014 08:58

The rain is working its way towards Norfolk.

I think that the border between Ireland and Northern Ireland could be in for some flooding issues looking at the radar.

Thunderstorms embedded in the general bleugh.

Estofex have issued a level 2 warning. That is highly unusual. (But sometimes I do question their accuracy)

I wish somebody could decide for me. Non essential but lovely trip from Kent to Oxford and back or not? I am swithering!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/08/2014 09:05

I will be keeping a careful eye on these thunderstorms that develop, as best I can. Reports are very welcome, especially if they become severe.

Woke up to beautiful sunshine here in Cambridgeshire and was hoping for the best, but now it's bucketing down. Soil bags stacked against the air bricks and just waiting it out hoping for the best. We have a party to go to this afternoon too. We don't drive Hmm Still, I've invested in a good raincoat this year and some decent boots so we'll see how it goes. We'd have to walk past the streets at flooded worst on Friday though so I really really want to just stay home.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/08/2014 09:08

Hakluyt, wish we could help, the weather is coming in 'clumps' embedded in the system, so while much of it is just like an ordinary autumn day, within at are aspects which may become more severe.

The worst of the rain seems to be in two areas, around Ireland/NI and across Wales up into the midlands. further south although there is some heavy rain about it is more of a patchy nature and indeed there may be breaks in it.

For those with a tablet or a phone i do highly rate the WeatherProHd app for radar and satellite imagery.

Very gentle breeze in York. Grey sky. No rain yet.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/08/2014 09:15

Sloane, I hope things turn out ok today.

For those in the SW where all is ok at present, there may be some lively showers beginning to develop.

I'm on hols in the SW and it's a lovely morning - slight breeze and slight cloud but nothing to worry about

GobblersKnob · 10/08/2014 09:21

North coast of Cornwall, very windy, lots of rain overnight.

FlipFlopWaddle · 10/08/2014 09:24

We've got blue skies here now! Shock

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/08/2014 09:26

It does seem that a secondary low has formed so that this system is formed of two low pressures, one over Ireland and one further south over the Midlands. It's quite fascinating.

A little wild and wooly where I am but nothing severe at present.

Looking at the met office site it seems that things will become rougher in the SW later this morning and into the afternoon both rain and wind wise. conversely in central southern areas the worst of the wind will be as the rain clears out.

Lots of rain here, soaked after dog walk!

bananaskin123 · 10/08/2014 09:40

Raining so hard here in Hertfordshire. Also extremely windy. We have organised a "special" birthday party here today (for me!!!). Please can you tell me if there is any chance the rain could stop sometime after 12.00. Be very very happy with clouds and intermittent showers but not the persistent rain we have at the moment.

Hope everybody else is OK.

JoyceDivision · 10/08/2014 09:43

rain has arrivedin west yorkshire! No wind or storms though :-)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/08/2014 09:45

Happy birthday bananaskin! It should clear up persistent rain wise around mid afternoon.

I just have to get dressed and see why my rain station isn't keeping up with the very heavy rain. It's usually a spider...

Heavy rain here north london.
My friends are all camping at a dog show up in the midlands at Rockingham Castle - they just had an almost direct lightning strike at the site! Show suspended, lots of petrified campers.
