I managed to get about 4 hours of fretful sleep last night. It's calmed down a bit now but I think it's going to get quite severe again around midday.

I hope everybody is safe. xx

denialandpanic · 27/12/2013 09:26

kitten, are we looking at wind Mon / Tue as well?

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 27/12/2013 09:33

I have never seen such a depressing forecast since I started this malarkey. Even 15 days out the pattern is the same with heavy rain after heavy rain day after day. Not all day every day but it just lines itself up to give little respitr. Bit of an interlude tomorrow thank goodness

tree has come down in OH's back garden, big oak tree as well Shock he's still without power, no idea when he'll be reconnected.

he's near porthmadog in north wales. I'm in badmouth north wales, power holding up but I'm scared to open the curtains...

denialandpanic · 27/12/2013 09:34

Sad kitten

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 27/12/2013 09:35

Yes d&p but not on the same scale at present. Windy/gales rather than severe gales.

Hang in there moomin.

SE
Just back from dog walk. Very blustery but mild and not raining atm though very dismal and grey.

moominleigh94 · 27/12/2013 10:14

Damage doesn't seem too bad for us but we haven't been able to examine the roof yet, think we may have lost a couple of roof tiles, but the trees over the road from us look dangerously close to falling, and we're a bit scared to cross the road so we can check Grin

Listen to your spidey instincts!

OP posts:
moominleigh94 · 27/12/2013 10:27

My spidey senses are saying stay indoors where it's vaguely warm Grin

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 27/12/2013 10:31

Spidey sense - that's the phrase!!! It first came out as 'Spidey insects' which I knew didnt make any sense!!

Oh blooming buggery hell - I've had to do running repairs on my plastic Tardis greenhouse. Massive great hailstorm did the damage as well as the pebbledash that was knocked off by the hail stones. And now bright sunshine ... I can't keep up with it at the moment.

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 27/12/2013 13:38

Hail stones knocked off the pebbledash? Was this today? How big was the hail?

moominleigh94 · 27/12/2013 14:04

OH has no idea when he'll get power back Sad

Massive oak tree took out the water main and the electricity cables when it fell. They're in contact with the power company but haven't heard anything for the last few hours.

inamerrymuckingfuddle · 27/12/2013 14:06

We're en route north (a1m) it's madness!

oldsilver · 27/12/2013 14:25

Sad for moomin OH.

They weren't that big, but very hard and what with the wind, were coming almost horizonal against the back of the house (the back looks out over a railway line so quite exposed. Probably took bits off that were loose anyway. But there's a nice little scattering around the back door and in my little plastic greenhouse. About 11.30/middayish.

TheDoctrineOfSanta · 27/12/2013 15:02

Have decided to travel back tomorrow morning instead, hopefully all will have calmed down again then.

Then I've got a 200 mile drive north on Monday so hoping the weather forecast improves...

digerd · 27/12/2013 15:37

SE
As it was sunny at 2.30pm I took little dog into the open fields and was shocked to see so much tree damage done.

MoreThanChristmasCrackers · 27/12/2013 15:47

Very windy here, NW last night and today. It seems to be calming now, but it did this before and then picked up again.

festivefrolics · 27/12/2013 17:32

It has been wild on the IOM all last night & today, I've never heard or felt wind like it. FIL is staying with us for an extra 2 days as all flights up to now cancelled or diverted & all ferries cancelled. Quieter now though

coffeeinbed · 28/12/2013 09:07

Been watching BBC breakfast and there is some more extreme gales for Monday.
And heavy rain.
Oh FFS!

curlew · 28/12/2013 09:15

Really, coffee? Oh I wish I could decide whether to cancel our trip to Yorkshire.........! < ditherer emoticon>

coffeeinbed · 28/12/2013 10:07

I do hope I'm wrong.
My only qualification is watching BBC news..Grin

digerd · 28/12/2013 10:32

S.Herts.
A sunny and quiet interlude here this morning. Not a cloud in the sky atm and no wind.

My weather forecast says the rain on Monday will be confined to the SE by dusk.
