Bright & sunny here in Lincolnshireland ...most bizarre given the rest of the country.

Cold & windy though so won't last I don't suppose. Xmas Sad

LadyFlumpalot · 24/12/2013 10:28

Ahh it must be East from me then as have travelled it from Mere to Honiton and it's fine, barely a twig or puddle.

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 24/12/2013 10:56

Ok, not forgetting the awfulness that Scotland is going to be going through over the next 24 hours, we still have some more weather coming. 06Z has come out.

Friday - Another rough storm for NI, scotland and perhaps northern England. so sorry guys. will also be pretty galeish along the south coast too I think.

Saturday - the north still suffers from the storm.

Sunday - generally ok but actually there is a tiny bit of a squeeze in isobars down the east coast that I'm looking at.

Monday - a low pressure could bring gales.

run out of brain cells. will try again later!

keepmoving you are really very welcome :)

setting off late morning is a good idea. Just take care for any fallen tree/flooding/landslip issues

Not loving these forecasts. Due to be flying to Belfast this afternoon and back on Friday afternoon. Going to be some scary flights I think, assuming we even get to go :(

PseudoSanta · 24/12/2013 11:30

Still worrying about our flight to belfast first thing Saturday :(

FunnyFestiveTableRunner · 24/12/2013 11:37

Blowy here but nothing out of the ordinary yet. We get gales here so often that they seem normal. It also means that anything in the garden has already survived all winter so will probably be okay unless we get an actual tornado. Won't rule it out Wink

CointreauVersial · 24/12/2013 11:38

Wind here last night (Surrey) seemed way worse than the "storm" a few weeks back. Really howling around the house. Our fence is down, and it ripped a massive heavy wooden gate off the side of the house. Angry

More importantly, we are due to get the Holyhead to Dublin ferry on Friday. I am fearing the worst.

MillyChristmas · 24/12/2013 11:42

It's snowing here in the mountains of North Wales but only a little Grin

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 24/12/2013 11:46

You might get some tomorrow Milly.

CV - I hope it goes for you ok.

Gatwick north terminal is horrific. Check today before you set off there.

BoJolly · 24/12/2013 12:12

DH is in the back garden, wrapping fairy lights around trees & bushes that are swaying in the wind.

Ever the optimist Xmas Grin

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 24/12/2013 12:31

updated warnings for friday interesting that the wind warnings are for the west.
Worried about the rain down here.

youarewinning · 24/12/2013 12:53

Well the re that smashed into the front of the house was less than a mile from here. Happened just after I was driving home alone an adjacent road worried would the state of the trees.

Friend called me yesterday stuck in traffic worried about trees. Passed that way today and she saw one down across the road where she was stuck.

Really makes you thankful.

Perihelion · 24/12/2013 13:21

No warnings for Edinburgh for Friday Smile
Am getting pissed of with the pishness of the Met Office warning map now. Think the need to be able to come up with a clearer way of representing the areas and the hazards combined, on the map.

Darkesteyes · 24/12/2013 14:17

Hi everyone Sorry to see that there are many of you still going through it Calmer in North Essex now. Some rain. Odd bit of wind but nothing like last night.
Thanks for all your info Kitten. Thanks Cake

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 24/12/2013 14:24

You are really welcome :)

TheGhostOfPortoPast · 24/12/2013 15:21

All calm in Deal now. We have been shopping. I have a friend near Gatwick who is totally flooded, and friends with no power still in East Kent. One friend's mum in Minnis Bay had a lucky escape when the garage got in the way of a 40 foot tree falling on to the house.

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 24/12/2013 15:30

Its going to be a very stressful Christmas for some isnt it :(

mankyscotslass · 24/12/2013 15:44

It was really windy and wet here last night, but our area seems to have got off lightly .

It's been bright and chilly today, but the clouds are starting to roll in and they have a snowy look to them - not that I expect it here, but I think SIL in Glossop may wake up to some snow in the morning.
