Awful wind here in Herts. It's the scary kind and think it's brought our tv aerial or something connected to our chimney pot down Sad

LaFataTurchina · 23/12/2013 23:09

Our (old) windows are rattling here in SW London. I'm actually a bit scared that the bathroom window could go right off its hinges.

ethelb · 23/12/2013 23:11

@cinnemon the lights keep flickering here in sw london which is making for some fairly dramatic startrek viewing.

Seriously though it was gusty before now it is just a constant roar. Good solid victorian window frames rattling which they didnt in the last storm Confused

Looking forward to lie in tomorrow due to seriously disrupted trains Wink

ethelb · 23/12/2013 23:11

Xpost with @lafata Grin

LaFataTurchina · 23/12/2013 23:12

Oh gosh at least our lights haven't started flickering yet!

GwendolineMaryLacey · 23/12/2013 23:12

LadyCelia are you my mother? My dad has gone from deepest Surrey to N London for the football too.

It's a little bit scary here in Surrey. I don't want my roof to blow off please.

piratecat · 23/12/2013 23:21

MrsClaus

hope you are ok.
waves.

maybe we are neighbours?

Perihelion · 23/12/2013 23:22

Ice warning for most of Scotland tomorrow.
Wind starting to pick up in Edinburgh, pressure 961 and falling.

OneStepCloser · 23/12/2013 23:22

So glad ds is asleep in bed as a load of stuff has just fallen down the chimney into the fireplace, Ive had a quick look from outside and it looks ok so must have been the wind blowing something down, but bless ds would have thought it was Father Christmas coming early!

plum100 · 23/12/2013 23:26

We have tain pouring in under our bedroom window - soaking through to downstairs! Dh has set up a diversion for it to fall into a biwl in bedroom and it sounds like a running tap - i am scared

FestiveYoni · 23/12/2013 23:31

scary here too, strongest winds i have seen here...in south east outside london Xmas Shock i thought they were supposed to die down tonight?

Darkesteyes · 23/12/2013 23:35

Just seen on uk power networks fb page. Apparently power cuts overnight in Essex are inevitable. And they dont compensate for lost food Apparently the public have to claim on their home insurance.
Sorry to hear about your leak plum Thats shit. When is this crap going to end?!!

Darkesteyes · 23/12/2013 23:35

The bit about not compensating for lost food was on twitter.

gallicgirl · 23/12/2013 23:36

In South Essex. Nothing between us and Thames except a load of fields. Feels like wind is blowing rain right into porch! Never heard the wind howl so badly. Definitely seems worse than any storms we've had over last few weeks.
Hope everyone is safe.

ethelb · 23/12/2013 23:41

I think the band of awfulness hits london around 3 am then dies down.

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 23/12/2013 23:52

Sorry, for my absence, weather related dramas of my own here. Sorted I hope.

Power is very dodgy now.

harrietfromharrow · 23/12/2013 23:57

Really bad here. Can feel drafts in places we do not normally have them and the noise is quite incredible. Scary if it is going to be even worse in a couple of hours.

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 23/12/2013 23:59

Yoni, not until the early hours. Worst between midnight and 3am.

Hi Kitten Sorry for moaning on here. I have a DH with disabilities so its a bit worrying and sounding off on here means i dont bother him with it.

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 24/12/2013 00:09

don't apologise darkest - it is scary and if you cant vent here where can you vent?

OP posts:
LadyCelia · 24/12/2013 00:10

Gwen - Ha ha, he's probably met DH struggling to get home, there's quite a few Arsenal & Chelsea fans stuck at Surbiton thanks to the usual lack of information from SW trains, all trains out of Surbiton going south just cancelled (after the last bus left obviously), so apparently there is a bun fight for taxis outside according to DH.

LadyFlumpalot · 24/12/2013 00:10

At the risk of jinxing it, it seems to be calming here a smidgeon. We don't have any streetlights here so I can't see anything at all, but I can hear something metallic clanking around outside. Power is still on.

Sorry to hear you are having dramas too Kitten. Sad

pigleychez · 24/12/2013 00:13

Very strong winds here in Kent now. fence panels are being lifted out if the coconcrete posts and Dh has been out retrieving garden furniture. It's really picked up out there's lately!

Very concerned about the trees in our bit of woods at the end if the garden. Looks like we may have some large branches down already. Thankfully they are far enough away from the house if they did come down. Only moved here 2 weeks ago so first storm experience here.

far too noisy and worried to sleep!

Darkesteyes · 24/12/2013 00:14

Whereabouts are you Flump Dont be too specific if you dont want to be.

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 24/12/2013 00:15

s'ok ladyflumpalot, wasnt fun but hopefully I can just chill with a drink now and then catch a bit of sleep when it calms.
