Picking up here in London! I'm sleeping in the living room (attic bedrooms) - I remember a bad storm a couple of years ago and could feel the roof swaying. Never again!

LadyFlumpalot · 23/12/2013 21:59

Crikey! It had all calmed down an hour ago! Now it's raging again in North Dorset. Any idea when it will pass over by, Kitten?

Geckos48 · 23/12/2013 22:01

Serious weather in South Wiltshire. Really full on

furbaby · 23/12/2013 22:07

Same as lady I am in North Dorset and I am sure this is worse than the last storms .
Stream at bottom of garden was over the banks and heading up to our garden at tea time :(
Dread to think how far its gone up into our garden .
lucky that garden goes up 2 levels before it gets to house so fingers crossed we don't get flooded .

curlew · 23/12/2013 22:08

Apparently part of a house has blown down in Whitstable........

pepperrabbit · 23/12/2013 22:11

Same here (NE Hampshire), it was a bit calmer for a while but really sudden hefty gusts again now.
South West Trains have announced there are no trains till after 7.30am tomorrow. That pretty much sorts out the "shall DH try to go to the office" question.
Lights keep dipping dramatically....

LadyFlumpalot · 23/12/2013 22:12

Just had a blast that actually made me duck! Sad DS is sleeping through it still.

lunatrick · 23/12/2013 22:13

I think I have to try going to sleep. Fingers crossed the sound of the wind doesn't keep me awake!

Hope everyone else is keeping safe Xmas Grin

LadyFlumpalot · 23/12/2013 22:14

I'm just down from Shaftesbury on the Langfords side Furbaby, DH just came back in from Shaftesbury Tesco and said there's a fair few bits of tree in the road.

piratecat · 23/12/2013 22:16

south Devon, 87mph.

it's pretty scary. i'm at the top of a hill. dd can't get to sleep. i pray everyone is ok out there.x

curlew · 23/12/2013 22:25

Ds and dog, who have the ludicrously noisy bedroom, have moved into our bed. Dp is about to join them. I think I'm going to sleep in the living room, which is the quietest, with the cats.

MrsClauswearsspanx · 23/12/2013 22:25

piratecat we must be close. Currently watching our back garden trees blow sideways.

furbaby · 23/12/2013 22:26

lady I am about 9 miles away from you :)
That road from Tescos in shaftsbury down to langfords has loads of trees along side the road , not suprised branches are down . Glad your dh made it home safe .
our power keeps flickering , praying it doesnt go out with full freezer and fridge .

Geckos48 · 23/12/2013 22:33

Just getting worse and worse now...

LadyFlumpalot · 23/12/2013 22:35

Our power isn't flickering yet, Furbaby. I'm just glad I'm down in the dip and not right on the hill.

Not looking forward to trying to battle through to DHs work (Bourton) in the morning. He wants to go via Gill to see how high the river is. I think we'll ve lucky to get as far as Gill as that means either getting up Semley Hollow or down past the Coppleridge.

furbaby · 23/12/2013 22:42

Thats spooky lady I live where your husband works .
Yes maybe better go coppleridge , mere way .
:)

LadyFlumpalot · 23/12/2013 22:45

Ha! Grin What are the chances! Smile

furbaby · 23/12/2013 22:50

Very strange . Grin
I wish you luck for getting here tomorrow .
I am only going as far as Mere tomorrow so should be fine :)

Darkesteyes · 23/12/2013 22:56

praying it doesnt go out with full freezer and fridge

Me too We cant afford to replace it. Dh is 63 and remembers lots of storms but not power cuts with them like we get these days. The infastructure is weak what with lack of maintenance due to profits being put first.
Well the public didnt ask for privatisation so i dont see why we should take the hit.
In Oct 2002 we were out of power for 18 hrs and lost a fridgeful of food Further up the road they were out for a week. Any payment forthcoming to replace food lost back then? Nope Zilch.

HesterShaw · 23/12/2013 22:57

Sounds like Kent is getting the worst of it then.

flatmum · 23/12/2013 23:00

We're in East Surrey. I've just put our dc in our bed at the back of the house as the trees at the front are really swaying.

CinnamonPorridge · 23/12/2013 23:02

We had a 5 minute power cut around 10. Scary, with fridge and freezer full.
Earlier on traffic came to a halt when a tree fell down across the road, flattening a parked car.
It's still very very windy (SE London).

Darkesteyes · 23/12/2013 23:06

still very windy here in Essex.

toomanyeasterbunnies · 23/12/2013 23:07

I'm east surrey too and the wind is raging. It's a bit scary. Keep safe everyone.

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 23/12/2013 23:08

It's quite scary! Haven't heard the wind whistle like this is London before.
