Another severe storm 2nd/3rd November?

Quite possible I'm afraid.

Very early days in forecasting land but it has been showing in the models for a couple of days already.

GFS takes a deep low across northern scotland which would bring gales (severe??) to southern Scotland and northern England.

ECMWF and UKMO have it less deep but further south and not causing nearly so many issues.

NAVGEM brings possibly severe gales to England

GFS spotted last nights storm very early on and actually wasnt a bad forecast. We need to keep an eye on the situation.

We heard a lot of fireworks being let off last night ~ think folks had decided to have Hallowe'en, Diwali and Bonfire fireworks while the weather was nice. Tuesday looks 'proper yuk' for us (possibly not a proper meteorological term!) so not a good night for fireworks.

Netweather have decided to do their own weather watch for the next few days, covering just about everyone!

Straitjacket · 01/11/2013 14:07

Yes, I feel on my last legs right now Grin but hopefully I will still be able to have my nice relaxing weekend and let dp worry about the fireworks on Sunday instead Wink

Thanks kitten, you are a star!

digerd · 01/11/2013 14:50

I don't get it. Yesterday felt so mild, but just been out for dog walk at the same air temp as yesterday and it feels much cooler?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/11/2013 17:02

How strange digerd. It's not something I'd noticed today. I've generally been feeling a bit cooked!

You are really welcome straitjacket - now feet up with a glass of wine and relax!

That netweather alert seems pretty on the ball! Not sure if they are overdoing the winds a little for Saturday but they might be right.

I'm going to have to start paying more attention to the flooding side of things.

I wondered whether netweather might be overdoing it with having a warning lasting 4 days but the ground is so saturated at the moment ~ my garden and allotment are best not walked on as they become one awful muddy mess!

DoItTooJulia · 01/11/2013 19:48

Oh, we are going to a fireworks display tomorrow in Birmingham. Will it be really crappy weather??

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/11/2013 21:09

Doittojulia, there might be a bit of rain about but the main issue is going to be the wind gusting perhaps to 40-50 mph

OP posts:
DoItTooJulia · 01/11/2013 21:49

Oh no. Thanks OYBBK, will have to see if its cancelled then.

youarewinning · 01/11/2013 22:44

Met office has Portsmouth with 40-50mph gusts!!!! Is this likely to be accurate? (That's for Sat thro Sun)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/11/2013 22:53

Youarewinning, yes that looks about right to me, it might be a bit of a underestimate though.

Sorry if you've already said but how it looking for London tomorrow early evening please? Also have a fireworks display to go to Smile.

youarewinning · 01/11/2013 23:48

Underestimate - nnnnoooooooooooooo! We're meant to be doing fireworks with the church.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/11/2013 07:13

Met office have issued yellow alert for South Sun night for rain. No warnings for wind tonight but looking very blowey!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/11/2013 07:36

It is Youarewinning, from the midlands down including all of Wales. Gusts between 40-50mph, higher around the south coast and the SW, southern Wales.

poorbuthappy · 02/11/2013 14:24

Bloody hell I actually thought our house was going to blow over then!!
South east Wales. Far far worse than last weekend.

Straitjacket · 02/11/2013 14:54

Yes, it is much worse here currently than it was last weeken, too. And set to get worse.

How is it looking for the Merseyside/Warrington region kitten?

Sorry, stupid tablet crashed on me. Pfft!

digerd · 02/11/2013 14:59

Ohh. We've just had an hour of storm winds and rain. SE Very black sky which diappeared when I turned my back to get a coffee and the sun came out again. Heard something hit my window - probably a thick twig/brach off the old pine tree at the back.
Haven't looked yet, but after last Monday, one of my climbing rose arches had fallen apart in places and one side is higher than the other and couldn't get the horizontal support back in and couldn't push that vertical bit further down into the grown < or at least my gardener tried and couldn'tSad>

Augustaprodworthy · 02/11/2013 15:02

It's pretty windy here just now. Worse than last week as the extractor fan is clattering and the wind is loud down the chimney

FlabbyAdams · 02/11/2013 15:03

Am also in South Wales and have to say its very very windy here and a lot worse than last weekend.
I can see trees bending over in the wind.
