I'm keeping a pretty close eye on developments for Monday. some of the models (in particular gfs) are showing a deep low developing over England, with the majority of the gfs runs taking the worst of the wind over the south.

Massive if. But if the weather were to pan out as those models are suggesting it would be a damaging storm, especially given the trees still being in leaf. I'd keep an eye on the met office early warnings page and if they start warning about it then it would be a good weekend to tidy the garden before you lose your stuff Wink

I'll update as things become clearer.

Sat in my kitchen in South East London and I can hear the wind is very very strong... Guineas coming in tonight....

Methe · 27/10/2013 07:22

Bright and breezy in the West Midlands. It was colder last night that it has been recently. It doesn't look much like a mega storm is on the way.. It's all very typically October weather.

youarewinning · 27/10/2013 07:26

Quite windy here in South Hants. Had some very stormy type weather at 4am - there bins everywhere already! and the petrol station lost one of it's A frame signs.

youarewinning · 27/10/2013 07:27

It's either a pre storm warm up - or this is what we'll get full stop.

I'll await the woman in the knows updates Grin

Makinglists · 27/10/2013 07:29

Thunder lightening + heavy rain her in Plymouth at around 5am. Very squally winds. Its now quite calm.

Meglet · 27/10/2013 07:33

Hanpshire still have an amber warning out.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 27/10/2013 07:35

curlew I've had the same dilemma, the summer field is a nice big open space so less chance of trees falling on them but no shelter from the rain.

The winter field is surrounded by trees with lots of trees dotted around the field and a big wooden shelter in the corner.

I've decided to leave them in the winter field and try and entice them into the shelter with their treat balls and vegetables hidden around I'm still contemplating actually shutting them in but then I'm worried the roof might collapse on them and they won't be able to get out Sad

Littleredsquirrel · 27/10/2013 07:41

Met office now have the yellow warning over a larger area. We are right on the edge of the amber so noticed it. They've also removed the yellow warning for rain in the south but kept it further north.

SorrelForbes · 27/10/2013 07:45

Yep, short lived thunder storm here a couple of hours ago

Smiling- we've got one who won't go in under any circumstances- she goes ballistic. So she's out in it whatever happens. Sad

Sleepingbunnies · 27/10/2013 07:51

Ok, I'm based in south east, DCs bedroom is at front of house, the houses are lined with trees directly outside ... Am I being paranoid to not want them sleeping in their room tonight?

Should I move them into our room?

Littleredsquirrel · 27/10/2013 07:52

Sorry my post was a bit misleading. The amber is still on for wind, the yellow for rain is there in midlands but not in south

PatoBanton · 27/10/2013 07:55

Curlew I hope your horse is Ok.

Am just reporting in to say we had very heavy rain this morning which has now stopped, it was also very windy but that is continuing

We are currently on Brighton seafront and its hard to walk along. I was glad lat night of my "sturdy build" Grin
We are back to sunny glos today.
What I want to know is wil I be expected to stil go to work Monday or can I stay with the dc to watch cartoons?

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 27/10/2013 08:07

According to Ian Fergeson met office are currently saying 60-70 % chance of a developed storm, 30-40% chance of not a developed storm.

So my plans are to prepare as though it is coming but realistically accept that it might be just gales (and enough rain to cause some flooding). Those on the south coast - it still looks like it could be pretty nasty even without a developed storm.

Stormy last night in sw london but now quite calm

youarewinning · 27/10/2013 08:10

Glad car is outside flat and car park to Tesco is underground!

digerd · 27/10/2013 08:12

S.Herts
Sky all clear and sun shining atm - slight breeze. Must quickly take dog out before it changes.

toomanyeasterbunnies · 27/10/2013 08:13

We're in South London\Surrey Border and it is bright and sunny and the wind has died down a bit.... is this the calm before the storm??

What should we be thinking about in terms of getting prepared? I've completely forgotten about the trampoline so will have to weigh it down somehow and then make sure there is nothing else outside that can blow around. I'm seriously worried about our chimney as my DH has been saying all year we need to re-point it and he hasn't got around to it. I may move the cars around the corner so they are not on the drive in case it comes down.

Oh cripes!

ExcuseTypos · 27/10/2013 08:14

TheWalking we were in Brighton yesterday afternoon too!

It was extremely windy on the sea front. It took us ages to walk along, quite funny but scary, all at the same timeGrin

octopusinastringbag · 27/10/2013 08:19

All done here bar the trampoline, I can't figure out a way to sort that out as I've nothing heavy to put on it, at least nothing that I can lift anyway. It's just going to have to take it's chances.
Next door are not pleased, a large branch partially came off their pear tree ages ago and has been hanging over our fence, I've put it back down behind the tree and have suggested that they take it to the waste site or tie it to the tree; it won't go in my car but will go in theirs, they reckon it is my branch because it was hanging into my garden and are refusing to take it because they are busy today Confused Hmm

Thewalkingdeadkr · 27/10/2013 08:20

excuse yes we were struggling to walk too! My toddler would have blow away!
