I'm keeping a pretty close eye on developments for Monday. some of the models (in particular gfs) are showing a deep low developing over England, with the majority of the gfs runs taking the worst of the wind over the south.

Massive if. But if the weather were to pan out as those models are suggesting it would be a damaging storm, especially given the trees still being in leaf. I'd keep an eye on the met office early warnings page and if they start warning about it then it would be a good weekend to tidy the garden before you lose your stuff Wink

I'll update as things become clearer.

Balls my post vanished. (Morning all)

GFS doesn't have the storm ( but still blowy and could be some convective stuff I guess)
UKMO and ECMWF similar.

NAVGEM and Bracknell fax charts still have the storm. Are they going to follow the same models?

So I've not got a scooby about what is going to happen at the moment! Will update when I have an idea.

Sounds a nightmare to decipher when there's conflict OYWWW. The rain has started here, it's lashing down.

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 27/10/2013 06:17

Met office map still has the very high winds. Map was updated at 3am. So don't discard the idea that there could be a nasty storm yet.

The rain has been lashing down here too and the wind groaning around the house. Quieter now.

Whats the best weather forum to read?

GeekLovesANYFUCKER · 27/10/2013 06:23

At the risk of being dense how do you flip the trampoline? I am in West midlands so I think I am in the yellow zone. Right now it is clear with some medium level cloud - very peaceful.

digerd · 27/10/2013 06:25

I forgot about putting the clocks back last night as so worried about DD's enormous tree - council owned but they never seem to prune it-.
Was in a flap this morning thinking my thermostat had stopped working as said 05.28 and my watch said 06.28 and heating was an hour late[blush
All quiet on the S.Herts front atm. Peeped out the curtains at the back and tall pine trees still standing, for now.

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 27/10/2013 06:26

Elbow ukww.

Geek you can only flip it if it hasn't got nets :)

cloudskitchen · 27/10/2013 06:29

According to @metoffice on twitter Surrey are still on amber alert.

digerd · 27/10/2013 06:33

Just checked and it is raining but no wind.

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 27/10/2013 06:39

Thanks clouds :)

Even if GFS. Etc are right, I think southern coastal counties, esp in the SE will still get some nasty weather with gales for the rest of us. Maybe not so intense though.

Just looked at met office twitter feed. Seems they aren't at present downgrading the storm at all.
Thanks for the pointer clouds :)

Bum. Will check to see if I can remove nets since otherwise they act as sails.

CalmaLlamaDown · 27/10/2013 06:46

Strong winds here in mid cornwall for the last couple of hours (I am on a night shift) not much in the way if heavy rain though

Cuckoocloud · 27/10/2013 06:49

My son went to the Halloween Masked Ball near Helston, Cornwall last night, supposedly camping. Anybody else with dcs at this event or with any information? I was hoping that they would miss the stormy weather but it's sounding pretty rough out there already (I am in South Devon). I can only imagine there will be lots of cars stuck in a bog today.

onetiredmummy · 27/10/2013 06:52

Will be out later putting the loose garden stuff away just in case.

Warwickshire is calm at the minute, no rain or wind just a dark grey sky.

madasa · 27/10/2013 06:53

Lashing down with rain here in Kent and wind getting up....am terrified of the wind Sad

If it gets worse I will crawl under my duvet with headphones on

mummylin2495 · 27/10/2013 06:54

There are already very strong winds in Bournemouth, not raining at the moment though

GloriaSmud · 27/10/2013 07:01

Looking at the metoffice's warning maps since 5am (my internal body clock never allows for clocks going back!) and watching as they update the warning areas, I think if anything they've made the areas bigger and extended the yellow warning for strong winds northwards.

(Think a 'Severe Gales ~ Part 2' thread might be needed before long, OYWWW!)

thekitchenfairy · 27/10/2013 07:09

Waves to Crocky and Catslave another Cornish MNer here, are we expecting any power cuts? Local news seems a bit vague!

Weather where I live can be v localised but I would say it has started judging by the heavy rain that kept me awake through the night in Truro. Eerily quiet this morning.

I am popping over to MN local to start a thread, it looks like we are going to get a pasting before the rest of the country...

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 27/10/2013 07:09

I can't see any updates to the warnings since yesterday morning Gloria?

I think we will be needing a new thread. I'm off out later but I'll start one before I go.

Very blowy and wet on the East Kent coast this morning.

onetiredmummy · 27/10/2013 07:12

Whoa the strong rain has started and the wind is picking up in Warwickshire.

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 27/10/2013 07:18

Today's stuff isn't connected with the storm(not storm?) expected overnight.
