I'm keeping a pretty close eye on developments for Monday. some of the models (in particular gfs) are showing a deep low developing over England, with the majority of the gfs runs taking the worst of the wind over the south.

Massive if. But if the weather were to pan out as those models are suggesting it would be a damaging storm, especially given the trees still being in leaf. I'd keep an eye on the met office early warnings page and if they start warning about it then it would be a good weekend to tidy the garden before you lose your stuff Wink

I'll update as things become clearer.

The law allows you to prune anything that is hanging onto your property and you don't even need to tell them never mind ask them. They don't have any legal say in the matter.
BUT, is always better for good neighbourly relations for you both to come to an agreement.
DD's neighbour's removed half her tree so is lopsided, but as I said it was stupid of the previous owners to plant a tree, of all things, near the fence and neighbours had the legal right to do it.
They are very good neighbours and he is a policeman. DD is single.

Thanks digerd. I have to confess to planting a small tree next to our fence with the nice NDN but they have trees all down their side anyway so I figured they wouldn't see mine - their trees are all around 20-30 feet tall. I'm going to be removing an oak tree though, DS planted an acorn without telling me so I now have a 4 foot high oak tree sneaking up behind a large shrub, I found it when making sure the trellis was secured firmly to the fence and ground. I wonder if we can sneak out and plant it in the adjacent woodland without being noticed?! Grin

Lol at the location shifters. I am in Bognor,Aldwick/Pagham actually - much nicer than you would first think - used to date someone who would not say he lived here, it was always 'The City of Chichester' when asked.

Just back from walking the dog on the beach, it's really whipping up already , blowing very definitely from west to east along the coast right now.

Have screwed shed down and filled it with the garden furniture.

A bit worried at the moment that the 10ft bamboo stems are going to whip up in the early hours and harpoon all the neighbours' cars - we live at the end of a close.

Shock

Think we need to batten down the hatches here in Devon, the wind is already picking up!

We're in Catterick, North Yorkshire and have some pretty strong winds & rain which have developed in the past hour. We wasn't expecting it this far up. The trampoline is lifting a little. Oops!

Where are the hatches, and how do we batten them down?! Hmm

Afternoon Smile

After a lovely if blowy morning, it is now rainy and the gusts of wind are getting stronger according to my little weather station on top of the shed Grin. 22.8 mph is worst though so far so not too bad. However the pressure is dropping (which I think is a bad thing?).

My chickens are not at all happy though as we've taken the tarp off their run so they're being blown over which I am not laughing at at all. The trampoline is flipped. So we're as ready as we'll ever be!

Am I correct in thinking my husband (and his boss for pushing him) would be stupid/ irresponsible to drive from the north east to London at 6am tomorrow morning!?

We're in East Kent and, according to BBC weather, the worst will be at 2am-ish.

We have lots of HUGE trees by the side of our house so have set up camp in mine and DH's bedroom with 3 mattresses on the floor, on other side of house. 3 DCs all think its very exciting, well, not the 15 yo obviously.

Us too Bacon. We're sleeping in my room tonight because it's at the front of the house - no trees, no fences, no danger :o
