I'm keeping a pretty close eye on developments for Monday. some of the models (in particular gfs) are showing a deep low developing over England, with the majority of the gfs runs taking the worst of the wind over the south.

Massive if. But if the weather were to pan out as those models are suggesting it would be a damaging storm, especially given the trees still being in leaf. I'd keep an eye on the met office early warnings page and if they start warning about it then it would be a good weekend to tidy the garden before you lose your stuff Wink

I'll update as things become clearer.

Thanks to fellow Cornish people, H and I will be out flipping the trampoline tomorrow :) We're in the Carnon Valley so hopefully slightly sheltered, though the folks are up on Bodmin Moor. Spent today helping them tie down the chicken run using guy ropes. Last time there was a big storm (about 5-6 years ago - didn't even make the papers), a static caravan came flying over the hedge into their field Shock. Gets very blowy up there, to say the least...

AChristmassyJerseySpud · 26/10/2013 23:28

Im up Welly Road!

Right at the top.

I don't know if its coming earlier. I think this might be the start of it. The rain has started for sure up here and the wind has picked up.

We used to be down la collette in the highrise. Am SO fucking glad we moved!!

Happy birthday to your twins :)

idobelieveinfairies · 26/10/2013 23:33

Thanks jersey!

Waiting to see what is going to be reported next!! I wanted to move my car away from all the trees of people's park before tmrw night :/ ahhh well, I'm not going out there now!

AChristmassyJerseySpud · 26/10/2013 23:34

Ours are on the driveway and the trees got lopped last year. more worried about my roof. We all know what housing is like for maintence!

SarahPercyAndBill · 26/10/2013 23:36

Thanks to this thread, was discussing weather with DH and he realised he hadn't seen an annual renewal fee for our house insurance on his bank statement. Sure enough, it wasn't automatically renewed (like our old one) and would have expired this weekend. Shock

ExcuseTypos · 26/10/2013 23:38

We're in Hants and it was extremely windy earlier. Very calm now, it's moved to Kent by the sounds of it.

gallicgirl · 26/10/2013 23:38

Wind picked up in south Essex recently too.
We're heading over the river tomorrow for a holiday in north Kent.

Right on the coast too. I was worried about it raining all week!

BelleOfTheBorstal · 26/10/2013 23:48

London here. It was raining in a sinister manner but appears to have stopped now.

cloudskitchen · 26/10/2013 23:56

mummylin2495 · 27/10/2013 00:02

Hello to Bournemouth people. , gone a bit quiet now hasn't it after such a windy evening

ThreeDaughtersLoveSandwiches · 27/10/2013 00:13

According to www.xcweather.co.uk/ the wind is starting to pick up again but it shouldn't get above 55mph. I'm in Plymouth but the opposite side to the Tamar.

GobbySadcase · 27/10/2013 00:31

Tree down already in Horsham. Bodes well...

PowerPants · 27/10/2013 00:40

Hi mummylin am in Poole (same thing really), and it's gone completely quiet. So hoping this storm isn't going to happen!

I think it will powerpants. ! I was thinking it wouldn't happen and would pass us by, but I don't think that now. Would be good to go and look at the waves, but prob too dangerous.

Rockinhippy · 27/10/2013 01:33

Apparently our area got hit the hardest by the 86" storms & just been looking at old news photos & boy is it scary to look atShock - my accu weather app has always been very accurate for us & it's not looking good at all

I didn't live here in 86 & as we are apparently right in the middld of the most likely path - will be battening down the hatches, taking what we can down off the yard walls, tying stuff up & locking the cats in for the next few days - though think we are quite lucky in that there's not a lot of damage can be done here, no near trees, big enough to damage etc & thankfully DH has next week off work, so won't be driving in it at silly o'clock in the morning - more of a worry for local friends that are not as sheltered as us though :(

mummylin2495 · 27/10/2013 01:39

Dh and I slept through the whole of the last big storm, despite having sheets of corrugated metal flying round the garden, we couldn't believe the damage and will never understand how we didnt hear a thing, I think I will hear it ths time !

feelingood · 27/10/2013 02:53

posting in a bit of a panic(?) not read all of thread as logged on from hols.

We flying into Gatwick on Tuesday am at 7am. Will it all be gone by then? Crikey thort our first holiday abroad had gone too well.

HettiePetal · 27/10/2013 05:10

I'm in West Sussex, right on the coast - it is very, very blowy now.....howling winds and the power cables are being whipping around.

CatAmongThePigeons · 27/10/2013 05:37

The wind here is gusty, which fits in with the MetOffice's yellow warning that updated at 2am. The rain is forecast to hit later than they forecast yesterday and here, at least it's looking better than expected.

saintlyjimjams · 27/10/2013 06:08

Just had short lived thunderstorm. It woke me. I have no idea whether it's 6am old time or. 7am old time though...

cupcake78 · 27/10/2013 06:08

saintlyjimjams · 27/10/2013 06:09
