I'm keeping a pretty close eye on developments for Monday. some of the models (in particular gfs) are showing a deep low developing over England, with the majority of the gfs runs taking the worst of the wind over the south.

Massive if. But if the weather were to pan out as those models are suggesting it would be a damaging storm, especially given the trees still being in leaf. I'd keep an eye on the met office early warnings page and if they start warning about it then it would be a good weekend to tidy the garden before you lose your stuff Wink

I'll update as things become clearer.

My hubby just keeps looking at me going

'Are you still blethering about this storm? Its a storm in a teacup' then laughs at himself

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 26/10/2013 23:12

have been following this thread all day.

I'm in Kent and in the past hour the wind has really picked up.

I've put everything in the garden away and am preparing to bring the rabbits in if needed, I'm quite worried about the horses though and the fact that I have to be at work at 7.30 on Monday morning.

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 26/10/2013 23:12

Hester, he should be interested :)

I'm going to call a halt to my forecasts for the night because
a)I've had wine
b)if bizarrely the 18Z gfs was correct then you can tear up most of this thread.

Waves to fellow Kenties.
According to UK Weather Forecast on FB we shall really get it here on Monday morning. It's a very interesting group and seems to get quite a bit of local info.
My first autumn in Kent so have made sure I'm well prepared. Our power lines look particularly precarious, one side of our land is woodland and we have 50ft trees fairly close to house, the other side is open to Romney Marshes and the coast beyond.
Spending tomorrow battening me hatches and hiding me ducks. Also making a coat with built in weights for Little Dog should she venture out.

AChristmassyJerseySpud · 26/10/2013 23:19

Ooooh Torpoint. I liked Torpoint. I remember getting drunk there once.

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 26/10/2013 23:20

If I'm reading things right on the latest local updates here we have been given an imminent warning for gale force 9 winds. I thought it wasn't due until tomorrow?

I'm confused and in Jersey.

AChristmassyJerseySpud · 26/10/2013 23:21

Oooh Idobelieveinfairies!

I don't think they know whats happening.

Sophiatheweatherlady has updated twitter that the storm appears to have shifted south on their model.

btw where in Jersey are you?

ChippingInNeedsANYFUCKER · 26/10/2013 23:22

No middle of the night updates OYBBK??

I was looking forward to a quiet day at home tomorrow, with an MN stormwatch and some good coffee :) A good friend has just called and asked me to do her an all day favour... I couldn't say 'No'

I will be here in the morning for updates first though and aim to be home around tea time!!

I'm supposed to be taking small people to a circus on Tuesday (acrobats not animals) - I wonder if it will still be on? If their 'tent' will still be standing?? Shock Time will tell!!

Wind picking up in our bit of Kent too- and we have horse dilemma- leave out in exposed field with no trees to blow down on them- bring in to sheltered paddock with lots of trees......decisions, decisions.......

CockyMcChicken · 26/10/2013 23:26

I must have been in another world or something, only been reading about the storms this evening. I'm not going anywhere tomorrow, I've decided.

idobelieveinfairies · 26/10/2013 23:26
