I'm keeping a pretty close eye on developments for Monday. some of the models (in particular gfs) are showing a deep low developing over England, with the majority of the gfs runs taking the worst of the wind over the south.

Massive if. But if the weather were to pan out as those models are suggesting it would be a damaging storm, especially given the trees still being in leaf. I'd keep an eye on the met office early warnings page and if they start warning about it then it would be a good weekend to tidy the garden before you lose your stuff Wink

I'll update as things become clearer.

And D0G is in the same town as me. I found this out after I had insulted her on one of her threads and we'd had a massive spat. I'd never been so obnoxious on MN before, and I had to go and do it to the one person within 10 miles of me.

We made up afterwards. Had no option really!

HesterShaw · 26/10/2013 22:25

Sorry OYWWW. Hijack.

AChristmassyJerseySpud · 26/10/2013 22:25

OYWWW im feeling a little more nervous than i was before. They are telling us gusts of 60mph here and that we're being skimmed.

DameDeepRedBetty · 26/10/2013 22:25

Wind is up here - NE Wilts.

LayMizzRarb I don't think anyone here actually wants to see death, doom and destruction, but we are sort of excited by events that remind us that we - the all-powerful Homo sapiens sapiens - do not have complete control of our planet. And extreme weather undoubtedly falls into this category.

I'm almost certainly going to have to drive through it on Monday morning, I'm really, really not looking forward to it.

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 26/10/2013 22:26

florence - its not a hurricane, there are really strict criteria for the definition of a hurricane. However, it does look like there will be hurricane strength gusts embedded in the storm.

I think that it may be overconcern for many people away from coasts.

Now I'm worried - I'm on the coast!

Herisson · 26/10/2013 22:38

Waving to all the Channel Islanders and hoping you stay safe. My mum and dad are on Guernsey (and are fairly ancient) so I have a personal stake in this!

Antidote · 26/10/2013 22:38

You are on starfish. See you on the other side.

AChristmassyJerseySpud · 26/10/2013 22:39

I have lovely fizzy pink wine.

All is good again

Herisson · 26/10/2013 22:40

Haha. Might recommend that to my nervous mum, JerseySpud!

AChristmassyJerseySpud · 26/10/2013 22:40

Problem here is (not sure if Guernsey is the same) but anything like this and everything stops, we get power cuts, roads impassable....

Hmmm probably should move my bin tomorrow as well

AChristmassyJerseySpud · 26/10/2013 22:41

Tell her wine. Wine makes everything better!

until the morning when i realise that it hasnt happened yet!

I worry about my sil that lives in a valley. lots of trees!

youarewinning · 26/10/2013 22:41

Oh no Shock that big red maroon bit goes straight over channel isles and then over Southampton/ Portsmouth. It's horrific feeling now and this is just the warm up Sad
