I'm keeping a pretty close eye on developments for Monday. some of the models (in particular gfs) are showing a deep low developing over England, with the majority of the gfs runs taking the worst of the wind over the south.

Massive if. But if the weather were to pan out as those models are suggesting it would be a damaging storm, especially given the trees still being in leaf. I'd keep an eye on the met office early warnings page and if they start warning about it then it would be a good weekend to tidy the garden before you lose your stuff Wink

I'll update as things become clearer.

This one Thoughts although as OYBBK will tell us this is just one of many opinions. IIRC this is an American site for watching hurricanes. I just think it looks really cool and find it amusing that although it just looks like one static picture they obviously change it all the time.

PowerPants · 26/10/2013 22:01

It's going crackers here in Bournemouth, is this the warm up? Sad

4yoniD · 26/10/2013 22:02

Guernsey.

Sparklysilversequins · 26/10/2013 22:02

I don't know if it's excitement as such but I think it's perfectly natural for the adrenaline to start pumping a bit in light of all the hoo-hah and warnings etc.

HesterShaw · 26/10/2013 22:02

It's eerily calm here at the moment (SW Cornwall). I hate it when it does this. It's like it's drawing breath.

FlorenceMattell · 26/10/2013 22:03

They are predicting 80 to 90 mph winds.
Are they predicting a hurricane ?
Sorry I'm a being dense but they haven't used H word.
I hate windy weather and starting to feel very anxious tbh.
Stay safe everyone.

Good Luck 4yoniD

As you can tell i'm in Jersey. But they are telling us that its not going to be so bad on Channel Online!

4yoniD · 26/10/2013 22:04

Guernsey Weather latest update - "Storm update: now speeding across the Atlantic at about 84mph. GFS models in the morning should have an accurate idea of timing. Note we've been talking a lot about the wind but a lot of rain is going to fall as well up to 3 inches is possible."

Here too Hester it's like the calm before the storm.

It was pouring and blowing dogs off chains then went quiet about an hour ago..

SE Cornwall, practically Devon.

wavesandsmiles · 26/10/2013 22:07

jerseyspud I'm on Guernsey.... Have noticed a lack of much comment from CI met about the storm, but many others seem to be saying that its going to be worst for the CI. I don't trust the local forecasters much either after the failure to predict the amount of snow earlier this year!

HesterShaw · 26/10/2013 22:07

I'm going out with the camera tomorrow for my photoblog :o

Storm watching is big business.

AChristmassyJerseySpud · 26/10/2013 22:08

Yes it was an epic fail on the snow

Met office: Theres only going to be a little bit of snow

5 foot later

Met Office: Oh...we didn't see that coming

I don't trust them either!

AChristmassyJerseySpud · 26/10/2013 22:08

The worst of it is i'm two doors down from the met observatory!

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 26/10/2013 22:09

I'm at work along the south coast from where I live tomorrow nightSad

I want to hunker down and not move! I'm worried about the drive along the coast and back and about structural damage at the hospital I work at. It wasn't built in '87 so who knows. I have a recurring nightmare of having to evacuate in the middle of the night!

ForalltheSaints · 26/10/2013 22:11

I think that it may be overconcern for many people away from coasts.

AnyaKnowIt · 26/10/2013 22:11

HesterShaw · 26/10/2013 22:23

I did a meet up last winter in Truro - there were only three of us in the end, but it turned out I knew UnexpectedItem's stepson (we're in the same business), and I'd spoken to her on the phone :o
