met office warnings For tomorrow for Scotland and NW England, extending to Yorkshire. NW Scotlant in particular looks awful with blizzard conditions.

I'm not quite sure about the warnings for England, I'm going to be really interested to see how they pan out. Tuesday scattered sleet and snow showers for many.

I'm not sure about Sunday itself, the cool down may come on the back edge of the weather front. however looking at the latest GFS run Sunday night into monday am looks rather interesting at the moment!

Lostinwales, DP and I have giggled over your post,

Imagine the scene,
Hordes of little Welsh People being herded towards Big Pit, (probably by sheepdogs) with Mams crying Why Oh Why are they taking our babbies down the Pit, deed to my goodness! They'll be filthy like Mwch yn du
Ych y fi!
And strict Pit inspectors saying sternly, Naw, come on now, lovely boys, lovely girls, stick with ewer butties, you MUST go underground, cos ewe are Welsh, en ewe!!
An keep walking backwards, or that nasty wind will get on yewer chest an ewe'll be under the doctor, mind my word!!
Excuse dreadful Welsh and Wenglish!! all made up!!

The met office are having a laugh today with their gnome warnings!

Snow risk is primarily in Scotland today with east coast snow showers probably fading out for all but those in Norfolk/Suffolk.

For Sunday GFS shows a fair bit of snow, esp away from the south where it shows it too warm. It then shows it cooling down and there being a snow risk in the south on Sunday night into Monday as well as a continued snow risk across the rest of the UK.

Met office forecast seems to agree up until Sunday night then it has it too dry in the south for snow down there and generally a drier picture away from the east. I'm not quite sure why looking at their charts, but there you go.

Earthymama that made me Grina bit like a cross between mining and It Ain't Half Hot Mum

Beautiful red/pink sky this morning (I want to say mackerel clouds but I've forgotten already)

South Herts
Bright blue skies from dawn and sun shining. 0 in the night. Outdoor sensor says 10 degrees, but feels much colder. Forecast says the cold wind will last until Sunday, just hope it's gone by Monday.

Just seen that the met office have put out a yellow warning for snow for most of England Wales and Scotland for Sun and Mon! They are very vague however in the accompanying text - interesting though that they've put out the earnings so far in advance given the degree of uncertainty.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/02/2013 13:22

oh yes fatsatsuma :) warnings they must be picking up on uncertainties in their model. Fascinating! If the worst case scenario came off it would be a very interesting monday morning....

Worth noting that there might be some sneaky sleet and snow on Saturday too and perhaps Saturday night......

Although the uncertainty is huge for Sunday/Mondays weather I would be prepared for heavy snow fall just in case, even in the south. Its all down to exactly where the low pressure ends up over the UK and any other features that crop up. I'd say that Sunday lunchtime onwards is the time to watch out (at first theres a warm sector that is modelled across the south that needs to get out of the way).

Will obviously keep you updated as much as work and circumstances allow.

I've had withdrawal symptoms since we had that one spring like day - can't wait for it.
Just now was out walking the dog and the icy wind has subsided although it is only +4 atm it felt quite mild.
