met office warnings For tomorrow for Scotland and NW England, extending to Yorkshire. NW Scotlant in particular looks awful with blizzard conditions.

I'm not quite sure about the warnings for England, I'm going to be really interested to see how they pan out. Tuesday scattered sleet and snow showers for many.

It's very wet snow and on the cusp of turning back to rain but it is lying here.

Leesmum, I feel rather useless this morning. All I can go by really is the radar as actually looking at the NAE this morning even it is wrong and not reflecting what is going on on the ground. I do think though that Manchester could be in for a substantial amount more.

Waves to fellow West Sussexer Meg :)

How have we got the snow?! All forecasts seemed to show us missing it yet about 6am it started sleeting which has now turned to full on snow thats settling. Sky looks full of it too!

The met office forecast just says rain.

Really hoping the world doesnt decide to panic buy as need to do the weekly shop this morning. With 2 small kids in tow it could be quite a harrowing experience!

Leesmum, you are very welcome :)

And apologies to those for whom I got it wrong this morning! I suspect there's going to be a lot of surprised forecasters. Maybe I should get some seaweed and pine cones in for all the good the models were!

I guess one of the issues is, with rain usually we don't notice if the forecast is out by a degree or two, but it sure as heck makes a massive difference when it comes to whether snow will result or not.

About 4 inches here in south derbyshire and it's still coming down. We're heading out like arctic explorers to the pet shop. Out of food for the dog and hens.

E Sussex, are we going to get loads?

.
Kitten your forecasts are so helpful and you will always be my favourite weather lady .
One of the things you have taught me is snow can be very hard to forecast so I always take what the bbc say with a pinch of salt and am aware we can get it when we don' t expect it and visa versa.

kitten it's really fascinating.I was watching c4 news last night and Liam Dutton was looking fairly nervous with his forecast, which ended up spot on. thank you for helping us understand all this. I keep meaning to get myself a weather station but I only think of it when the interesting weather is happening not at birthday time!

Still no snow here but extremely cold. No rain either! According to Facebook, though, the snow is getting closer.

The difference even in small areas is amazing isnt it. Chickens is in the same county as me and has 4 inches of snow, we arent far off a foot now and its still snowing heavily.

Is that difference due to us being high up BadKitten, or is it more to do with wherever the fronts pass over?

pigsinmud · 23/03/2013 09:23

Mid surrey - snowing. According to met office this is rain! Just slushy on roads and paths, but lovely white view out the back....hill & gardens.

Woke up to a blizzard here in North Yorks. DH took the dog out and the way the wind had blown the snow it was 2 foot against our front door.

Glad its a sat though and I dont have to go anywhere far for a couple of days. I can manage a walk with the dog.

Well ladies it seems the snow you're all looking for is over here in Belfast. I reckon we have at least 10 inches, snowing since thurs night, blizzards really. Praying we don't lose our power like many people.

S.Herts

Hasn't stopped snowing, but it seems to be getting wetter snow, so even more dangerous for walking in it and overnight turning into an ice-rink < sobs>

Little dog wants and needs her walkies, so getting dressed appropriately I hope, < takes ages to get ready in my eskimo outfit> but not looking forward to it one bit.
