met office warnings For tomorrow for Scotland and NW England, extending to Yorkshire. NW Scotlant in particular looks awful with blizzard conditions.

I'm not quite sure about the warnings for England, I'm going to be really interested to see how they pan out. Tuesday scattered sleet and snow showers for many.

Absolutely beautiful here today, but my, it's windy! Doesn't feel anywhere near cold enough to snow tonight.

digerd · 04/02/2013 16:44

Piglet
My heating has been on all day at 21 and I have not been warm enough to open the windows. But then in winter I get little sun in my sitting room as faces east.
+8 now outside and a clear sky.

Labradorlover · 04/02/2013 17:04

If I opened some windows the contents of my house would be swirling about. Have tumble dried my coat 3 times today though........Oh and 2C now and still fecking windy.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/02/2013 17:43

an amber warning

in the mean time, I got a load of washing dry on the line today :)

Heavy snow for many in Scotland tonight. Turning increasingly snowy for those south of the border, down through Newcastle. I think also the Pennines could be an issue tonight and into tomorrow. Also Lincolnshire could see heavy snow.

a wee snow shower!

WhispersOfWickedness · 04/02/2013 19:13

Damn! Thanks for the update kitten Smile according to the met office app, it's supposed to be sleety/rainy this evening, so am I being stupid to hope that it won't stick?!

missorinoco · 04/02/2013 19:26

Noooooo. Amber warnings, go away, and take the snow with you.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/02/2013 20:42

WoW it may well stick for a time, but your ground temp is probably not terribly cold so by tomorrow evening that, combined with a slight rise in temp might make tomorrow night awfully mushy.

Thanks for the updates Kitten, I only listen to your forecasts now...the rest are bobbins..fingers crossed for some snow in Nth Manchester!

WhispersOfWickedness · 04/02/2013 21:26

Ok, that's great news, thank you Grin

mankyscotslass · 04/02/2013 22:04

Well that was unexpected! We just had a thunder storm! Quite a lot of loud thunder, and lightning. We have had some very intense hail this evening too.

leesmum · 04/02/2013 22:08

Whooping great big chunks of snow falling now!!

mankyscotslass · 04/02/2013 22:09

THUNDERSNOW! We have snow in Manchester. Big flakes but I think the ground is too wet after all the hail and rain for it to stick.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/02/2013 22:11

Yay manky!!!

Had a fright when mn went off line. amber warnings for parts of northern England too!

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/02/2013 22:12

Leesmum, that's great! Shows that this is really convective in nature!

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/02/2013 22:15

Manchester area may get its moment tonight :)

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/02/2013 22:16

All in all, just shows I've still got a lot to learn :)

OP posts:
leesmum · 04/02/2013 22:17

Yep it appears the snow hit us in nth manc and then moved over to MANKYS side of Manchester!

mankyscotslass · 04/02/2013 22:18

I'm off to bed, I wonder if I will wake up to a winter wonderland? I'm happy anyway, it's two years since I witnessed thunder snow!

LostInWales · 04/02/2013 22:26

Big flash of lightening off to the north about 5 mins ago hardly heard the thunder though so must be far away, not sure if it was as far as Manchester though Grin.

BitchyDragons · 04/02/2013 22:39

thundersnow here too. massive gusting winds. snow is sideways in it's falling...

And it can all feck off. I need to drive a new car tomo at stupid o'clock. I do not want to be doing this on snow and ice!!!!

Will it turn to rain towards first thing iyo oybbk? Bbc weather forecast suggested this but am reluctant to believe it.

EasyFromNowOn · 04/02/2013 22:44

Not currently snowing here in North Staffs but it is blowing an absolute gale. Sounded like hail earlier but it was just rain being driven really hard by the wind!

About 5 miles south of Staffs Moorlands so hoping we avoid the snow.

BitchyDragons · 04/02/2013 22:51

Actually the way the gusts blew up and blew out, oybbk is it possible that there might have been a tornado come through from the storm?

mumat39 · 04/02/2013 23:22

Hi BitchyDragons, just found this. I think OYBBK has mentioned it before as a good site. Torro

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 04/02/2013 23:33
