met office warnings For tomorrow for Scotland and NW England, extending to Yorkshire. NW Scotlant in particular looks awful with blizzard conditions.

I'm not quite sure about the warnings for England, I'm going to be really interested to see how they pan out. Tuesday scattered sleet and snow showers for many.

A bit of snow here (North Yorkshire), but nothing much. Its pretty much gone now though. According to Met Office it might snow a bit this aft, but its due to rain later.

There was ice on my Wheely bin this morning. But still sunny and very cold wind.

North Staffs - snow just hit here. Massive flakes, and it is really swirly because the wind is still so bad. Doesn't look to be settling so far

Sheffield has had loads today-woke to about 3 inches. Stopped for a couple of hours and now back on with a vengeance.

Started again here about 2ish, still going now, but not as heavy. It's starting to lie again now though.

Snowing here, Leics, quite hard. Will now be doing the anxious foot shuffling wait of anxiousness till DS2 gets home in his taxi. His school is quite a way away. I really felt the temperature drop quite suddenly too.

Hope it doesn't linger too long.

Woah, where did this snow come from?! I diligently checked my met office app before I left the house to pick DS up from preschool and it just said cloudy until rain this evening Confused Got to preschool and it started snowing big fat flakes and is still going half an hour later Confused

Actually forget that. I think the sudden drop in temperature was because I hadn't shut the back door properly after letting the dog our BlushHmmGrin.

I wonder if its a case of evaporative cooling WoW. If heavy rain or snow falls into dry air it can cool the air down as it evaporates. This can take the air to below zero and make it snow when all other factors reckon it should be rain.

ood :(

Really interesting explanation, Kitten, thank you Smile

I did my washing yesterday late afternoon and hung it on curtain rails and my picture rail and some radiators in rooms other than where I sit. I don't have anything that needs ironing .
Really cold NE wind .
+4 here atm. Just looked at the sky, but as dark don't know if it is blue sky still. Humidity out says only 65% so relatively dry - when cloudy is always 80%.
South Herts. Fearing a below freezing temp tonight unless it clouds over

It'd been raining, I just noticed. So at least the night temp will be milder. So why was my humidity saying 65%% - now 69% ?? That's weird.
