met office warnings For tomorrow for Scotland and NW England, extending to Yorkshire. NW Scotlant in particular looks awful with blizzard conditions.

I'm not quite sure about the warnings for England, I'm going to be really interested to see how they pan out. Tuesday scattered sleet and snow showers for many.

The BBC weather map looks all scary and orange so I think I shall cancel....

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/03/2013 18:10

Will catch up with you all a bit later, taking a five minute breather in what is an astoundingly busy day!

mankyscotslass · 21/03/2013 20:17

Bitter cold and gret here - have given up on this winter, so we will see.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/03/2013 20:35

Ok, finally sitting down properly. Phew!

Gloria, yes I would be concerned about that. Journey too.

Twllbach, I'm sorry I missed you, it really has been one of those days. If you are still around and dithering wave at me. I don't think I would have cancelled for travelling tonight

London could see snow on Saturday, especially northern and western parts I think. A bit hit and miss and borderline temp wise.

Sunday looks very very cold but thankfully very little in the way of snow anywhere at the moment, but be alert for a fast change on that forecast.

Thanks Kitten, you (as always) rock! My Dad is currently sat in the lounge at Dubai airport, en route from Perth to come and stay in our single glazed, droughty house in v West London... I hope he has packed wisely Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/03/2013 20:46

Grin what is the shopping like in the airport? Can he stock up with expensive Aran jumpers or something? or perhaps a few bottles of whiskey

OP posts:
TwllBach · 21/03/2013 20:55

I did dither OYBBK but not because of you Grin and have cancelled, but the weather (or lack thereof) is just an excuse really. I'm far too tired to drive all that way and then drive back tomorrow!

You're like a public service now - have you considered asking MNHQ to pay you? Grin

ScoffedAnEggInSixtySeconds · 21/03/2013 20:59

We are supposed to be driving from Warwickshire to Cheshire tomorrow after school ready to fly from Manchester airport on Saturday night...what do you reckon kitten ?

plumsauce · 21/03/2013 21:11

Kitten Derby is apparently getting 40cm's of snow tonight Shock. Is that likely?

Sparklingbrook · 21/03/2013 21:15

DH says it's snowing now. Angry

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 21/03/2013 21:17

Surely not plumsauce Shock

plumsauce · 21/03/2013 21:21

That's possibly exaggerated Chickens but it's what I've heard. The BBC weather page shows several hours of heavy snow in the area.

GloriaSmud · 21/03/2013 21:26

Plumsauce ~ think the 40cm amount is for over Peak District way.

Some snow reports coming in here already.

41notTrendy · 21/03/2013 21:26

40cm in DerbyShock
I'm in Nottingham so may be facing the same! Thank God I went to Sainsburys earlier!

ChippingInIsEggceptional · 21/03/2013 21:31

40cm in Derby?! Wow.

I wonder if there'll be any 'fast changes' that will mean we get snow this weekend in the central south east? I was thinking about going to the Tweseldown Artisan Market on Satuday - but if we get a lovely snowfall I'll go snow walking instead Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/03/2013 21:31

I think that 40cm is for high ground over the peaks.
Scoffedanegg, which roads are you planning to use?

Twll, I wouldn't like to make the journey back tomorrow tbh, so probably a sensible decision after all!

OP posts:
TheEasterBunnyVsTheKids · 21/03/2013 21:38

I'm in derby and have heard we are to expect 30cm over lower ground and upto 40cm in Peak District.

I'm watching for the first flakes now!!!

LillethTheCat · 21/03/2013 21:49

How bad are we expecting it to be up here north yorks co Durham area?

ScoffedAnEggInSixtySeconds · 21/03/2013 22:04

Straight up m40 and m6 was the plan...

Thanks so much for all the help and advice kitten, I really appreciate it.:)

TwllBach · 21/03/2013 22:16

That's what I thought!

Plus I'd still be driving now with two hours still to go if I was lucky and I've already had two naps as I am shattered! It's been a long day at the end of a long week at the end of a long term and I do think it would have been a hard drive.

The wind is howling round the house tonight, I'm looking forward to seeing what the weather is doing when I wake up in the morning.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/03/2013 22:39

Scoffed, I think with caution it may be ok, but I won't say a definite go for it because as the front comes in there may be periods of rain that wash any gritting attempts and it could quickly go hideously wrong if that happens.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/03/2013 22:42

Lileth your difficult time is more likely to be on Saturday.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/03/2013 22:42

So calm and quiet down here.

OP posts:
GloriaSmud · 21/03/2013 22:47

thenightsky · 21/03/2013 22:58
