Apologies to those in Norfolk who may well not be excited any more!!!!
This a continuation of This thread and is for model watching, forecasting and general excitement Grin

Thanks OYBBK, for trying to give me a bit of hope! Grin

Snowed on and off since 2.45, but very fine and still just a dusting really.

DS1&2's football matches this weekend have been cancelled, but only because the pitches have been frozen, not due to snow.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 18:02

behindlock - how lovely :)

stopped snowing here (north of norwich) about 90minutes ago and nine since despite BBC saying heavy showers.

Been a bit of a wasted day, could have made it to work and back!

greenplastictrees · 18/01/2013 18:06

It started snowing on my way to work at 8.30am. Kept snowing until 3pmish. When I left work at 5 it started snowing a little again (this is the SE1 postcode by the way). When I came above ground in North West London it was snowing heavily again and still is.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 18:11

I've made the next thread for when this one gets all full up as I'm off to have a wallow in the bath :)

snow watch part 3 for when the time comes....

A light dusting still coming down in E17. A lot of the pavements were turning to ice as the slush froze once the sun went down, or else were covered in compacted snow in busy high-traffic areas. Quite a few cars spinning their wheels on the compacted stuff our dead-end road exits onto as DD3 and I came home earlier - the council only grits main roads usually anyway, and didn't even bother with that last night. Wonder if they'll make an effort with the main roads tonight? Looking at the radar I suspect we'll only get very light stuff overnight here - the main hazard tomorrow is going to be ice.

LivingInAPinkBauble · 18/01/2013 18:12

please someone stop bringing me snow in Norfolk! No snow days at my school, long commute made longer and it is so slippery! Joining Fimbo in a protest, anyone else want it? Can't bear many more days, how long is this meant to go on for Kitten? Thanks for all your updates.

Mrcrumpswife · 18/01/2013 18:12

Tortoise not sure which part of Somerset you are in, but its throwing it down in my bit againGrin

mankyscotslass · 18/01/2013 18:25

Send some of it my way please - we are a virtually snow free oasis in this neck of the woods!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 18:26

Pink bauble, at least until early next week, Sorry! You've got your weather warning on Sunday to contend with. Am going to look further ahead probably tomorrow....

I keep wandering past windows and saying 'ooooo, it snowed!'
Easily pleased me. :)

Just looked again and still no more snow, but it feels like -18 out there, not -1
I know what -18 feels like as had it in Germany. Must be the DAMP cold.

SpottyTeacakes · 18/01/2013 18:37

I've got to get to Southampton hospital for 9am Monday morning Confused we've got six inches of snow and five miles to the nearest gritted road...

Tortoise · 18/01/2013 18:50

MrCrump About 15 miles from Yeovil or about 8 miles from Wincanton! (if that helps Grin )

Mrcrumpswife · 18/01/2013 19:23

Lol! We are higher in the hills and i'm guessing about 20 miles from you so it could be moving towards you. I know it hit Yeovil after us last night. Facebook was a frenzy of snow reports!!

I think you are being a bit a teeny weeny bit snow greedy Tortoise, just like meGrin

mumat39 · 18/01/2013 19:40

Enjoy your evening and your well deserved glasses of Wine

It stopped snowing at school run time here and hasn't started again. The forecast yesterday was for more overnight but I think that's changed as. The sky has snowed itself out. Looking forward to seeing what Suday will bring.

Hope everyone's well and keeping warm.

Take care
Xxx

mumat39 · 18/01/2013 19:42

That was to Kitten :)

And of course anyone else who might be cracking open a bottle or three. :)

mumat39 · 18/01/2013 19:43

Just reading backwards. Ooooh new snow thread. Amazing!

Meglet · 18/01/2013 20:12

The snow programme on BBC1 mentioned 'stratospheric warming'. I was thinking, ooooo OYBBK told us about that a couple of weeks ago Grin.

No great snow problems here, we have winter clothes so can walk everywhere and I've popped the car in the garage to keep it snug.

StillSlightlyCrumpled · 18/01/2013 20:18

Oops posted on the new thread in error, will repeat here if you don't mind.

Next weekend? Dare I ask OYBBK? Am stressing greatly about friends/ family travelling to the midlands from Cambridge, Kent & Somerset. Is it doomed? Will there be more of the same?
I do realise I am a pain Blush!
I've really enjoyed knowing what time the snow would arrive after this thread & spot on time it threw it down Smile. I have spent the day pretending to be a weather guru, DS1 is amazed at my superior (stolen) knowledgeWink!

Tortoise · 18/01/2013 20:19

MrCrump Grin yes greedy, but as we rarely get snow I want it to last Grin
Just looked outside and it is snowing lightly, freezing cold too.

snowflakehellokitty · 18/01/2013 20:29

no more snow forcast here till sun
hope snow stays on the ground tomorrow and doesnt melt

Skang · 18/01/2013 21:01

Snow in north Essex at last!! Not much but it is settling.

Corygal · 18/01/2013 21:30

Clapham Common a beauty now - just white out, chocolate silhouettes of trees, dun coloured big sky. Peace.

Not a cabinet minister to be seen at the Toilets, which in their weather romance look like a dear little wooden cottage in the woods.

PeneloPeePitstop · 18/01/2013 21:31

I'm bein a snow pig. It's stopped. 'Snot fair.
Want another foot at least...
