Stranded at MILs

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 14:45

west Kent seems to have it (according to the radar) looks like it will swing round to get to eastern Kent in the early evening. Not sure how much though!

Oh Kitten, be so grateful if you could see what it looks like for Braintree? Any hope for us?

TobyLerone · 18/01/2013 14:45

She's very nice as MILs go so far! but I'd still rather be home.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 14:46

tak1ngchances thats beautiful.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 14:48

Braintree - maybe some, it just seems to be on the edge of a strange snow desert which also seems to be hitting part of south suffolk at the moment.

Picking up a bit now in sheffield after silly dandruff all morning. Anyone know what to expect in sheffield for the rest of the weekend? I want loads Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 15:00

Snowing again here in W Manchester but no real depth settling! Sad

OYBBK - "Manchester people, it just teases around your area - sorry. I think you will get some this afternoon/evening, but not a whole load. "
Any chance of a last minute change in wind direction . Every time the Met office updates, they predict snow going on longer this afternoon ( at first was snow until 12.00, then 15.00 now 18.00) Is this a good sign?

WeAreSix · 18/01/2013 15:08

10cms in West Sussex and snowing again :)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 15:15

I think it will push more into your area arti this evening. No guarantees, but it does seem to be heading that way.

SueFawley · 18/01/2013 15:18

arti I'm in S Cheshire and ours is showing the same as yours. Bloody useless. It's actually melting here already, just to add insult to injury!

GloriaSnow · 18/01/2013 15:20

We got a text from DDs 2&3's primary school at 1.30 saying that they were getting concerned about the state of the roads around the school (small school on the edge of a village) and to come and pick up children NOW! So I went to pick them up and then got DD1 at 2.20 (who finishes at that time on a Friday anyway) and we've just got home after a fairly difficult journey home. The main roads are getting a covering now and the traffic's bad as everyone's leaving early.
I'm so ready for a hot chocolate!

musicposy · 18/01/2013 15:26

Measured here just north of Chichester all across the garden and we have an average of 19cm/ 8 inches, with it much deeper in the drifts!

We went out sledging this morning but it has set in a bit cold and deep now. The dog went into the garden for a wee and when she tried to squat disappeared into the snow - only her head and back could be seen!

A child is sitting in the snow on our green in front of the house. You can only see her chest upwards.

I'm so glad for your advice this morning, OYBBK! Thanks I was sad to miss the globe trip but we would never have got home. It has snowed solidly since I woke up at 7am. We're at the bottom of a fairly steep hill and the only cars getting up are 4x4s.

tak1ngchances · 18/01/2013 15:26

Bit of meltage going on in Wandsworth BUT it is making icicles on the roofs which is v pretty

travellingwilbury · 18/01/2013 15:31

Just got back from sledging , all good fun but I am now freezing and ready for a coffee .

I am in west Sussex and I haven't been able to work today , is it going to improve over the weekend ? I am local tomorrow so will walk but Sunday I am expected to drive again . What are the chance please kitten ? Horsham area by the way .

Megmog2005 · 18/01/2013 15:33

2 inches of snow in just over an hour here, just outside of Newcastle. Loving it. Had to make an emergency shopping trip (for Budwieser) my car was like a tabbogan on the way home.
