I'm worried about Friday, DD1 has a GCSE and blizzards are being forecast. School has said even if it's closed to the rest of the pupils, all the year 11's will obviously have to make their way in. We live a good 45 minutes walk away (in good weather conditions!) and right at the top of a steep hill which never gets gritted and usually the buses stop running too.

Normally I embrace the snow, but for this once, I hope it holds off!

It's a deal dm. I am off to the Panto though so maybe early hours of Saturday would be better thinking about it. Grin

Just clocking in to the new thread. Lovely frost here today(surrey hills) & looking forward to walking the dog. Can even see blue sky and the top of the hill in front of my village.....was covered in mist earlier.

Morning OYBBK :) nice to see another thread!

Can you tell me in your expert opinion whether you think it will rain or snow in Swindon? It's Technically the South West but we are about 5 miles from the Oxfordshire border here in N Wilts and about 15 from Newbury so I am hoping it doesn't turn to rain?

Do you think we are South Central enough to get snow ( and no pesky rain!) it snowed here the other morning closely followed by rain and I'm desperate to see some prolonged snow where it actually stays for a while.

Kitten, when you get back can you give me your opinion on whether i'm going to get my flight from Liverpool to Jersey on Friday? I don't think it looks good but ever the optimist! Thanks in advance :)

Pesto The school have to make alternative arrangements, eg. reschedule for your Dd.

So the chances of us getting from North Yorkshire to Dumfries, via A1 and A66 on Saturday and back on Sunday are looking less likely Hmm??

Marking place and settling in!
-4 here this morning, brrrr. All the puddles frozen and DD (4) managed to slip over within maybe, 2ft, of the front door and wailed all the way to school and back....

Thanks for the new thread.

Just marking place on this cold and frosty morning. My fingers are crossed I can get back from the supermarket before the real snow starts on Fri in North Yorks.

DawnDonna Do they?

DD says the school can't do that as it's a national exam which has to be taken simultaneously with schools around the country Confused

Just started snowing again, woo hoo!

I am not looking at the radar again, I think it senses I watching and is shy.

Oh dear. I forgot i had ordered some sledges And they have just arrived. I think I've now jinxed it and we will probably get no snow.

Norfolk: currently sunny, though more cloud than earlier. DH has just started car, temp showing -3. Hoping to head to coast, where my mum has no snow, but he is going to do some shopping for her, in view of forecast for Fri/Sat. Snow still looking beautiful, due to low temps. Stacks of it on neighbour's evergreens and looking v Christmassy.

We're currently up to the dizzy heights of -1.9C. I'm rather liking all the trees and shrubs all coated white from the frost. 'Tis cold but very pretty!

Sunny but very crisp day here in West Sussex.

Thick frost overnight and only topping -1 c now.

Think we are due some snow fri/sat. DH is panicking now as he starts a new job on Monday in London and usually even the tiniest bit of snow messes up the trains!

Report
Dawndonna · 16/01/2013 12:22

Pesto If it is due to conditions beyond anybodys control, they have to reschedule. They have spare papers, different to the main paper so that they can't be told what's on the paper. Tell Dd not to panic and tell the school to stop upsetting her!
