And another West Sussexer here-on the coast.

It's stopped Sad

DreamsTurnToGoldDust · 18/01/2013 16:39

Is that it for London today Kitten? I think it`ll be clearish by the morning and I cant see much disruption for travelling at rush hour.

Foggles · 18/01/2013 16:41

Well, somebody obviously put a roof on Oldham last night because I have never known there to be less snow here than central Manchester.

I am Shock

letseatgrandma · 18/01/2013 16:42

No snow for Essex, not a flake! I feel cheated!

digerd · 18/01/2013 16:43

Opened the door, but was too cold to measure the depth of snow. Minus 2 now, but snow has taken a break for the moment.

Megmog2005 · 18/01/2013 16:52

I love this thread. Thank you Kitten. Still deep white and beautiful here in Newcastle

snowflakehellokitty · 18/01/2013 16:57

Went outside again great fun

mankyscotslass · 18/01/2013 16:58

foggles not even 1 cm here in Denton either!

SpottyTeacakes · 18/01/2013 16:58

Still light here in my part if Sussex. Easily got six inches now.

MirandaWest · 18/01/2013 17:04

There must have been some snow as our road has gone a bit white. Think it's quite thinly spread at the moment though.

I like looking at snow more than going in it :)

TeWiSavesTheDay · 18/01/2013 17:08

It's stopped snowing here in South Northants at about 5-6"

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 17:10

We've gone over to snow showers now so I took the opportunity to shovel the drive and footpath and salt it all. I feel I have earned the glass of wine that I'll be enjoying later Grin

Waves to Lalasalama - I'm in a village just outside Swindon and there is a good 5 inches here too, DH had to commute to Bath on the train this morning and it was fine - was expecting it to be worse tbh.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 17:18

So looking at the radar, although it is thinning out theres still a lot of snow showers.

SE has some more to come this evening as has the NE with it moving up the NE coast.
Some rather beefy looking snow showers for the east of Scotland - any thunder in them???
Some snow showers also for the SW (away from the rainy spots) and perhaps the NW of England (including Manchester???)

Nothern Ireland seems to have had a good dollop.

Places that look a bit sadly snowless on the radar at the moment - much of western Scotland, norfolk and suffolk are down to some showers, and that NW bit of England still on the edge, though I'm hopeful for at least a little.

Tomorrow snow is primarily confined to the eastern side (to include parts of central england) of the UK (but not exclusively, with some showers about)

Sunday, mostly snow showers, but East Anglia looks to get another pasting with a met office warning out for them.

DH, who's just walked home from work, thinks we're up to 10cm in some places now and it's still throwing it down. I thought the weather forecast this morning on News 24 said that this band of snow was going to fragment as it moved eastwards and wasn't going to produce much snow for us!

OYBBK ~ think we're going to be in need of another snow thread, Part 3 in a bit!

PestoFrostissimos · 18/01/2013 17:29

Still blizzarding here, high on the Downs near Brighton Smile

nannynick · 18/01/2013 17:30

In the garden at work (near Chertsey, Surrey) we had 10cm of snow on surfaces which had not been touched by the children. Fortunately the roads have been in use all day and some were salted, so drive home was ok.

hopenglory · 18/01/2013 17:34

Well, we got loads in the end......

Of rain.

Terribly boring and very jealous of you all. Thanks to the Kitten for trying on our behalf though

fussychica · 18/01/2013 17:42

Trudged into town today through about 4 inches - lovely. Panic buying hasn't reached our Wiltshire town thank heavensGrin

Fimbo · 18/01/2013 17:45

Norwich. I am so pissed off with it. Go away. It's all slippery and horrid. The nice white crisp snow has now turned all brown. We are all slithering around up to our ankles. Local shops are running out of supplies thanks to nutty stockpilers. Who knew spaghetti hoops could possibly be so popular?? We are also due more again tonight and Sunday. Just do one. lol. Roll on Spring.

Tortoise · 18/01/2013 17:46

We have had great fun today in the snow. Sledging this morning and snowman made this afternoon. My dogs went made running around the field in it too.

Any chance of anymore for Somerset any time soon? Grin Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 17:46

Gloria, we certainly are going to need a new one!

hopenglory, how rotten for you :(

The main A road here in the Welsh mountains is closed and in fact there is no road to be seen.Completely covered in snow. Its blowing a howling blizzard all day and we have snow drifts as high as 5foot in places and still going very strong. Bloody cats have decided to poop in the outhouse as they refuseto get their little pink pads frosty.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 17:51

aws, that sounds really dodgy. Dont blame the cats though as theyd be buried!

Woking was fab today - started with a bit of graupel at 8.15am which had moved to fine snow by 8.30.
It then snowed gently but constantly. I was supposed to finish work (at a school) at 12 but that was when the head decided the dc could be collected by parents if they wanted, so stayed to help with the chaos that brought.
At one point there were reports of no buses, no trains and the roads treacherous, which is unheard of...
Finally braved the road at 2.45pm and drove gently home.

Dd played in thick snow in the garden and then we took ddog for a fabulous walk around our local canal and woods. It was magical, a true Narnia. Lovely Smile

Then home for a well deserved glass of wine (me), squash for the dc and some lovely pizzas.

A fab day, I don't care if it does not snow the rest of winter, this afternoon was wonderful and I am very happy Smile
