Snow watch!!!!

well, it looks like winter finally might be arriving!

First indications for snow are for this coming saturday as a low pressure draws in cold air . The met office arent really going for it at the moment, but the potential is certainly there. At the moment I'd say the biggest risk is for the midlands and central England.

After that there seems to be a cold few days but then the models start to disagree. GFS shows a positive snow fest for the 24th! masses of snow, but its a long way off and until we get much closer who knows what really will happen.

You are all very funny with your imaginings!! Grin

I'm keeping deliberately quiet about after the weekend because I just don't know! GFS shows a pattern of lows coming across the country and it will depend on the position of each of these as to where we end up in terms of cold or mild. Looking at the ensembles there is huge uncertainty all though the operational run goes for it remaining cold.

My gut feeling is that it is going to be a similar pattern to Monday with a mix of rain and snow for the south and more prob snow further north, but I certainly wouldn't put any bets on that!!!!

DS1 has just got back from footy training. His coach told him not to be surprised if this Sunday's match is off because two feet of snow is forecast. Shock Would love to know what forecast he's been looking at. Grin

Well we've had a veritable snowmageddon in Norfolk and I am officially over this whole snow thing. It looks pretty, it's been fun - but it can all go away now.

DameDeDoubtance, that made me laugh. Grin

Kitten, I was just catching up on the thread and realised that my 'oh bottom!' Post appeared just after your summary. It wasn't oh bottom to anything you had written as it was a cross post, but I wanted to make sure that it wasn't at anything you wrote but at the realisation that we will probably get more rain and no proper snow. Sorry if I sounded a bit rude. And I am really grateful for all the hard work you do to keep us updated as to what is going on. Thanks
Xxx

I am not convinced we will actually get proper snow on Friday. I have a horrible feeling that it will be the same as Sunday/Monday was and be alerted or rain for us. Sad [see I hope to be proved wrong though and will be constantly checking this thread over the next few days. Obsessed? Me? Shock Grin

You didn't sound rude in the slightest, I could see it was a cross post Mumat :)

Bloody hell sparkling! Wonder where they got that one from!

Hassled, I do feel that you are having far more than your fair share over there. I have no objections if you email some over this way.

Omg sparkling!!! Hope that's wrong as we are in Brum at the NIA on Saturday and have dd2s bday party on Sunday.

A snow day on Monday wouldn't be unwelcome though...Wink

Actually have rethought my previous post.

Two feet is the kind of blizzard I witnessed in an extreme north American winter. In worcs ??? Nah.

Meh, the Met Office snow warning map for the SW on Friday has a big yellow area covering the whole of the SW.....with the exception of Cornwall, which is just sticking limply out of it like a bad case of brewers' droop...Sad

If anywhere in the West Country got snow id have thought it would be Cornwall. Spotlight forecast snow on Bodmin and high ground over night so there's still a good chance

A 'slightly nippy' -4.5C at the moment ~ the temperature's doing that weird thing of getting colder just before dawn, as it was -4.3 when I got up!
It's DD2's birthday on Sunday. She's decided that, "it will be the Best.Birthday.Ever and she'll faint with joy" if it snows on that day!

OYBBK ~ perhaps a new thread is needed for the possible snowfest that might occur this weekend?

Where are you damn?

Just bloody shizzle in S. Cornwall at the moment. As ever. It's hardly dipped below freezing yet this winter...the nasturtiums are still running amok in the back yard Sad
