Hello
I just wondered if anyone has heard about it being really cold next week with snow showers?
Ooh I do hope so (fingers crossed for a snow day).

I remember being utterly confused when my geography teacher told us 1) the arctic tundra has less rain than the Sahara and 2) it snows in the Sahara

I love weather!

And linked in with that youngermother it's often high pressures which give us our coldest temps which tend not to have precipitating clouds.

It' been snowing here for a while. North of Glasgow. Sigh, just in time for Monday morning. Oh Joy.

Snow has laid here, I'm on the Durham coast. DC2 is over the moon. The dog will be too in the morning. DS1, Dp and I not so excited.

After today's bout there may be a few snow showers around in the north tomorrow. Then Thursday looks like the next proper batch, once again for the north east -mostly Scotland, but perhaps some northern areas of England.

And watch out for Thursday night into Friday. GFS are showing a bit of a snow fest right down to central England. Met office don't seem to be going for this solution, but the potential is there.......

I'm in Kent and 2 of my kids break up next week so it can snow after that a bit but not properly until my 3rd breaks up, if you can arrange that Grin.

I'm in Kent too, and if it can be arranged for it to start on the 22nd, that would suit me fine! Xmas Smile

Just came on to say that GFS shows a chance of snow for the SE and east Anglia for Wednesday morning!

Potential is still there for a bit tomorrow.

No sign of warming up at all in the next couple of weeks (maybe the far south will blip up to around 8c sometimes) with some very teasing charts.

Snowing here again and it's sitting on the frozen slush from yesterday! Poor ds has never walked on ice before he was just like bambi!

DS is desperate for some snow. His friend who is coming to tea next week has just told me he's bringing his sledge. Hmm

This link (if it works) shows maps for the week and the pink bits show snow: www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/expertcharts?LANG=en&MENU=0000000000&CONT=ukuk&MODELL=gfs&MODELLTYP=1&BASE=-&VAR=weas&HH=61&PANEL=1&ZOOM=1&ARCHIV=0&RES=0&WMO= I hope it doesn't snow much, a bit I can take. I'm in the SE but it doesn't show snow here til Friday. Local weather says tomorrow.
