Hello
I just wondered if anyone has heard about it being really cold next week with snow showers?
Ooh I do hope so (fingers crossed for a snow day).

Belle- I'm with you. I also live on an ungritted hill in Yorkshire and am praying there's no snow.

Below freezing here, Belle- about minus 3 so far (W Yorkshire/N Yorks). Is it too early to say roll on spring?!

Fog started forming here about 2.30pm and the temp dropped to 0C ~ fair to say school run was a bit nippy! We're now down to -3.3!

It's snowing in East Lothian. DC's will be so annoyed they missed it if it's gone by morning.

Though there must be snow around on higher ground or further inland than me ( Edinburgh ).....warmed up to 2.4C and then proper rain for 2 hours this evening.

I've just walked home from the pub and the roof of the house is solid white with frost. Our silly old pony is out in it as she won't come in.Sad She has a very thick rug on and a very hairy thick winter coat, but I still fret about her.

Looks like its a marginal situation with a weather front moving eastwards bringing rain for most but snow for some, most likely in the north of Scotland, but perhaps northern England too.

You can see the surface pressure charts to give you an idea of timing.

OYBBK,, there's an article in the Telegraph today saying that the Met Office are expecting a 'sudden stratospheric warming' (SWW) to start within the next week, which will apparently cause a blocked weather system over the UK and bring low temperatures for the rest of the year. You probably know all this anyway, but apparently it's a similiar set-up to the winter of 2010, but the METO have new technology which wasn't available then, which is why that winter was such a shock to everyone.

I know not everyone likes very cold weather, but I'm Grin at the prospect of proper chilly conditions over Christmas, even if it doesn't bring snow. Mild, damp weather at Christmas just doesn't feel right somehow!
