Hello
I just wondered if anyone has heard about it being really cold next week with snow showers?
Ooh I do hope so (fingers crossed for a snow day).

That'll be what they are basing their 3 month prediction on then. Their models are suggesting a colder than average winter but they aren't getting a clear signal about the amount of precipitation.

There's a SSW watch thread here that I've not seen before!

It was seriously freezing with frost on tops of the cars last night (or, this morning haha) and crunchy grass at 10.....last Sunday I was wearing a bloody t shirt outside!!

I would love it to snow. Free bus here or a v. short pretty walk to where I need to be. Boots and winter coat. Yay. SE here :)

DH and DS are freezing at the Ethiad at the moment -- it's not as cold as yesterday (yet) but still cold enough to make them wonder whether it was actually worth going when they only got a draw!

Both my weather apps said snow here in north Essex today, and one of them is the met office! It was stunning at sunrise, frozen hard and beautiful pink skies, then it bloody rained! Hard! The damp went righ through me, I was frozen! Sad

I noticed a layer of white on the ground a few hours ago when dark, but temp outside was 1.8, so unlikely to be frost, so assumed it had snowed lightly. Am in the Thames Valley area

Have an aversion to "precipitation" especially when frozen, as is so dangerous walking on pavements that are not cleared by council, and for cars on roads the council don't treat either.
Must admit though, when I woke up in 2010 and the roof of house was covered in a thick layer of snow, it was so much warmer inside ??!!

I had a real Dr Who moment earlier - "Its not snow, its ash!"

Opened the front door and saw these little flakes coming down, then smelled a bonifire from the allotment next door. Phew Xmas Blush

I'm starting to watch the models get close to Christmas. GFS goes to 17 th December ( which is utter fantasy island in forecasting terms) for midday it was widespread temps of -3 and snow in the south.
Fun to look at but boy would it be a pain if it actually happened!

It had better do some snowing somewhere then!

No snow here in South Yorkshire but still really cold -3 outside. The funny blue colour on the rainwatching app is frost/ice but not snow yet.

Hot water bottles out. Shepherd's delight. Xmas Smile

Kitten
I think you need to apply for leave from work for the next few weeks - we all need your guidance (again), especially if there is any chance of a repeat of 2010! Grin
