Getting really really fed up with it now. I actually think it's partly to cause for my depresion coming back, I am feeling so down ATM.
I get soaked twice a day walking midnees to school. I ahve 3 airers ful of wet washing all over the house, the heating on to dry it all, and muddy dog pawprints everywhere.

I want someone to turn the tap off please Grin

nice graphic of what the greenland high does. Normally a semi-permanent area of low pressure lies over Greenland. No idea when the Greenland high will decay!

Bastard Greenland High AngryAngryAngry

Blazing sunshine and blue skies again........Grin...and no drought....

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 03/05/2012 18:02

Dreary damp here but nothing dramatic.

ThePinkPussycat · 03/05/2012 18:13

Cold and grey here - thank you, North Sea!

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 04/05/2012 07:29

models are showing potential for gales next thursday.
For many tomorrow, Sunday dont look too bad. A little rain in parts (SE on sat) but there could be some sunshine too :) pretty cold though.

Marne · 04/05/2012 08:18

I hope the wearther picks up by the 21st as we are off on holiday, i hate sleeping in a caravan when its cold Sad.

SmallShips · 04/05/2012 11:17

Any idea what the weather will be doing on the I.O.W on Tuesday OYBBK?

stubbornstains · 04/05/2012 12:23

Ariel- apparently the old giffers have been muttering a lot about the unusual preponderance of easterlies down here for the last few years- have you heard these mutterings (if you have a boat surely you are snowed under with Old Giffer Advice)?

Shock non-appearance of rain down here over the last couple of days- van half-loaded with camping gear (fingers crossed emoticon)...

ripsishere · 04/05/2012 16:58

There was talk at the school gates of snow next week. We live in Warrington FFS, not Vladivostok.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 04/05/2012 17:51

snow??? not in the models I can see! smallships. looks wet at the moment I'm afraid.

GrimmaTheNome · 04/05/2012 17:53

The met office day 6-15 for NW England says 'snow risk for higher ground in the north'.

I would take that to mean the top of the Cumbrian Hills and possibly Pennines, not Warrington!

ripsishere · 04/05/2012 17:58

[phew] DD will be disappointed. When the last lot of snow was around she wanted to move to Penrith or Carlise despite not knowing where it was.

ThePinkPussycat · 04/05/2012 18:17

One of the hot summer years in the 70's I think we had snow in June?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 04/05/2012 19:34

She's right you know - 1975 in May. A cricket match was called off.

Hope springs eternal and all that.

GrimmaTheNome · 04/05/2012 19:49

Yes, I remember snow (not a huge amount, but real snow) when I was at secondary school so mid-70s.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 05/05/2012 15:18

There may be warmth at the end of next week in the south Shock

Marne · 05/05/2012 19:13

yay

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 05/05/2012 19:45

I love you ohyoubadkitten and want to have your babies.

Today I was nearly weeping with anger at being so cold in May (hormonal, much?)

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 05/05/2012 19:59

But....but....but.... look! What to believe? The Daily Mail says it will be cold until June and their weather reporting is always so balanced and accurate.

TheScottishPlayer · 05/05/2012 20:19

OYBBK - when will reasonably reliable forecasts be available for end May? We're having a UK break then and I'm hoping and praying that we won't regret our decision not to go abroad then!

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 05/05/2012 21:27

Lol Ariel, to be fair it has been on the cool side so far.

TSP you can start to get trends ( that may or may not be correct) about 2 weeks in advance, but even a week out can be rather dodgy. A good way to see how reliable forecasts are likely to be by looking at ensembles the closer the lines are together, the more likely the model is to be quite accurate.

ThePinkPussycat · 05/05/2012 23:00

I think I get it - ensembles are kind of like to see how chaotic, in the technical sense, the systems are?
