Getting really really fed up with it now. I actually think it's partly to cause for my depresion coming back, I am feeling so down ATM.
I get soaked twice a day walking midnees to school. I ahve 3 airers ful of wet washing all over the house, the heating on to dry it all, and muddy dog pawprints everywhere.

I want someone to turn the tap off please Grin

Sarf West. We have earned it, let me tell you.

GrimmaTheNome · 01/05/2012 10:02

Ariel - you're right about those forecasts. If you look on your area on the Met office, and then read the words not just the pictures, often as not it ain't so bad.

Mumat - we holidayed in Cornwall for about 5 years consecutively including some of the 'non summer' ones - so long as you've got wetsuits, rain jackets and a good attitude there's loads to do. Over a fortnight you're almost certain to get enough days which are good enough for the beach.

ripsishere · 01/05/2012 10:02

If it's any consolation Saltire, it's grey here too (NW).
I am sick to death of it, yesterday it felt as if the whole of Warrington was smiling. All due to the big yellow thing.
I don't/won't understand why the wind doesn't blow the rain somewhere else and make the summer blow round more quickly.

Saltire · 01/05/2012 10:03

I think we've earned it too. It has rained for the whole month here. Apart from yesterday.

EnjoyResponsibly · 01/05/2012 10:07

We had the big yellow thing here yesterday, was like a reprieve.

Then we had a colossal storm at midnight that made the roof leak (house on top of hill, north facing was like being in a Perfect Storm minus George Clooney Angry)

Just how deep does the rain that has rained non stop for 10 days need to penetrate before the drought gets over itself?

redrubyshoes · 01/05/2012 12:36

Wanging it down AGAIN.

ThePinkPussycat · 01/05/2012 13:04

This thread gave me hope. The sky can be blue with a bit yellow thing in it. It can. It can.

Grey skies no rain hear in the NE.

Only believe, Pink...

ThePinkPussycat · 01/05/2012 13:06

*here Also, no wind at the moment, twill come back all cold and blustery when (or if) the 'blue sky yellow thing' happens - which I am starting to think is some sort of ancient myth...

whiskyplease · 01/05/2012 13:06

As a drought I think this one is rubbish. Also, I have naturally curly hair too. I look as if I've got brillo pads stuck on my head.

Marne · 01/05/2012 14:11

We have sun and blue sky , i might even be able to shove the dd's outside when they get home. I think we will have to make the most of it though as the rest of the week looks a bit grey Sad

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 01/05/2012 14:38

bloke on the radio this morning said that we had built up a rainfall deficit of 5 months. Well, considering some parts had well over twice their usual rainfall in April, I reckon that means weve only got three more months worth to catch up. I had a look at a few stations and the average rainfall in May tends to be around 50-60mm. We have had 11mm today, so a good start to making up another months worth of rain!!

ripsishere · 01/05/2012 14:45

I heard that it was the wettest April for 100 years. That was on the radio, not an old man in Tesco BTW.
It can cheer up now, I am going to a VERY IMPORTANT BBQ in Norfolk on Sunday. Please don't let it be wet.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 01/05/2012 15:51

It was according to the met office.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 01/05/2012 21:00

I'd love to tell you if there are more warnings out but all get on the warnings page is black swirls followed by a question mark for each day Grin

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 01/05/2012 21:07

I've issued an unofficial 'gardeners warning' here

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 01/05/2012 21:55
Shock
mumat39 · 01/05/2012 22:53

Ariel and Grimma, thanks for your posts. We were in Cornwall for a week in the easter holidays and it was very very cold and on one day there was an amazing storm.

Will be sure to pack all our coats and waterproofs so we'll be prepared whatever the weather. we're self catering so no tents to worry about.

Thanks again and sorry for taking the no summer since 2006 seriously. Momentary sense of humour failure.

We had a wet start here today and then a very lovely sunny day. And it's dry and not too cold at the moment. Yayyyy!

ripsishere · 02/05/2012 07:33

Arse.
Although today has started well. Blue skies with very few clouds. I doubt it will last though

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 02/05/2012 20:37

More deluges expected tonight and tomorrow for parts of the south. Some high totals in places. Thunderstorms too.

Meglet · 02/05/2012 22:20

I'd cry but it might add to the floods.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 02/05/2012 22:40

So, is it this Greenland high which is causing all this? For all of April we have been having easterly and northeasterly winds down here, which is unusual at this time of year. Winds from this direction are usually a result of high pressure and accompany fine weather in the summer, or extremely cold weather in the winter. Easterly and south easterly is what we're getting at the moment, combined with the wet weather.

Does Greenland not normally have a high at this time of year? And what's going on with the jet stream? And lastly, when are the westerly and northwesterlies coming back?!

Does anyone know? Anyone? Anyone?

Labradorlover · 02/05/2012 23:37

Absolutely no rain and a sunny afternoon and evening here Grin. For once this bit of Scotland isn't getting the shite weather.
From what I can remember the last few Springs have had alot of Easterlies here ( Edinburgh ) but with more sunshine.

ripsishere · 03/05/2012 07:30

Once again it's sunny here. Fingers crossed it stays like this dahn sarf (east) and Mums BBQ won't be a wash out.
