Getting really really fed up with it now. I actually think it's partly to cause for my depresion coming back, I am feeling so down ATM.
I get soaked twice a day walking midnees to school. I ahve 3 airers ful of wet washing all over the house, the heating on to dry it all, and muddy dog pawprints everywhere.

I want someone to turn the tap off please Grin

No chance of washing out here, is all misty moisty and drizzly and cold.

I've had to resort to watching westerns on the telly just to remind myself what sunshine looks like. Please god we're not in for another "summer" of 11 degrees and constant drizzle.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 30/04/2012 17:09

Nice today - thank god, the roof had started leaking. Currently have very helpful builder fixing it for me. Hopefully.

This weather does make me very pleased that I insisted on a washer dryer though!

PS thank you for the advance warning once again OYBBK, was stripping the beds first thing this morning. Grin

BerryLellow, well if we do (get a summer in Cornwall this year) it will be our first since 2006, so it will be a bit of a novelty :)

BerryLellow · 30/04/2012 17:37

Well that's true Ariel, but at least we usually get the novelty of a few weeks on the beach in April/May! I got drenched on the school run earlier.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 30/04/2012 17:56

thread on weather stations if anyones interested.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 30/04/2012 18:04

I've only just noticed the second "bad" in your username

Metcheck are saying 'snow' in dorset on sunday Hmm, not sure how much of their forcasts are true?, so is it going to get cold again or will summer arrive anytime soon?

PavlovtheCat · 30/04/2012 19:53

it had better not snow in dorset as we are holidaying on the borders of doerset and devon at the weekend. In a yurt.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 30/04/2012 20:45

Metcheck just use raw computer data from gfs. No human input or experience involved and often different models produce different forecast scenarios. However, it is going to get cold again.

Ps wettest April in 100 years

Very sadly a man drowned in hampshire today bbc

mumat39 · 30/04/2012 21:11

Ariel and BerryLellow, we've booked 2 weeks in Cornwall in late August, and I was really looking forward to it. BUT if you've not had a summer since 2006 I'm worried. We haven't had a holiday in years as I'm too nervous to travel with my very allergic DD so really could do with a good break.

I wonder if we could all do some chanting in unison to the sun gods and hope they have a word with the rain gods so that we get some sun at some point during the summer, esp late August.

stubbornstains · 30/04/2012 23:09

Latest Met office forecast showing shock lack of rain in Cornwall tomorrow! Surely not? (also, I'm sure that's a 180 degree change of direction from this morning's forecast...or maybe I'm getting confused?)

mumat39 and everyone else !! caution woo warning!!! tonight is beltane eve. A very powerful night. If you want to be influencing any gods this is the time to be getting out in the greenwood and performing -er- fertility rituals. The veils are thin! The gods are receptive!!

(makes cocoa and pulls duvet up under chin).

EmmaUp · 30/04/2012 23:40

We had to cancel a camping trip last weekend because of the rain, and the kids are truly hacked off now they have watched every dvd in the house.

I know we need the water, but just a little break over next weeks May bank holiday would stop the kids from going stir crazy and killing eachother.

Washingmypaws · 01/05/2012 00:43

My god. The most horrendous rain in Oxfordshire. Incredibly loud - just the rain noise woke me up. And lightning flashing & flashing.

10 minutes later - totally calm, may even have stopped raining completely.

Odd.

mumat39 · 01/05/2012 00:53

stubbornstains, just looked up beltane eve. Blush

TBH I think I prefer the idea of cocoa and a duvet. Grin the ground's probably a bit squelchy and you'd get mud where it aint meant to go!! LOL

I think I was thinking more along the lines of the kumbaya m'lord type sitting round the campfire singing/chanting really. But I can see that that would be a bit lame.

It's started raining here again, but we had a gloriously sunny warm day so can't complain. I actually really like the sound of rain hitting the windows.

Washingmypaws, that sounds a bit scary. Hope you manage to get back to sleep okay.

(goes off to make cocoa humming kumbayaaaa m'lord kumbayaaaaa...)

Washingmypaws · 01/05/2012 01:03

Thanks. Rain seems to be back again, but just normal heavy rain this time.

LoopyLoopsTootTootToots · 01/05/2012 07:10

Ugh. If you're going to rain this much at least flood me in. OR something. Hffthppphhh%*fffggrrrrrrrrrg%rrr.

MinnieBar · 01/05/2012 07:31

washing - I'm in Oxfordshire too and I lost track of how many times I got woken up last night just by the incredibly loud weather. I seriously don't think I've heard the like before.
I did briefly think about posting here at the time [obsessed] Grin

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 01/05/2012 07:39

Grin We had a jolly good storm about 1:30am. I didnt think about coming down to post well only briefly It knocked our power out for a short time.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 01/05/2012 07:44

Tomorrow looks to be drier before the next lot moves in tomorrow evening.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 01/05/2012 09:32

mumat39, when I say "we haven't had a summer", I was being dramatic. What I mean is we haven't had a HOT summer :). But then nowhere else in the country has had a hot summer since 2006 either. Please don't worry about the end of August in Cornwall - it's ages away yet and we could still have a good summer. It's only 1st May!

I was musing this morning actually. I had a cancellation this morning from a family who will not be coming to Cornwall this weekend because the "weathermen say it will be wet". I wonder if, in their anxiousness not to be criticised and possible sued, these "weathermen" are actually incredibly negative in their forecasts, and I wonder if they realise the effect they have on towns and areas which rely on tourism. I remember a few years ago when Bournemouth had loads of cancelled bookings for the August bank holiday and the council looked at taking legal action against the Met Office because the actual weather was perfectly fine. They forecast heavy rain all day if there is the chance of a shower in the early morning, and that's what people see on their screens when they load their computer. And actually if people look at a variety of forecasts rather than just the shit BBC one, they will realise that weather forecasting is still not an exact science, and that it's perfectly possible that "heavy rain" might be a) short lived and b) somewhere twenty miles down the road to where they will be.

Besides, the rain isn't going to make someone or their children melt Wink. Granted two weeks in a tent in a relentless downpour wouldn't be nice, but it's very unlikely in August.

BerryLellow · 01/05/2012 09:50

Ooh sunshine...hello

Washing is out!

Saltire · 01/05/2012 09:54

Well yesterday was lovely, big yellow thing in the sky! Today, very cold, very windy and its looks like it's going to start tipping it down any minute
