As requested by our snow guru OYBBK heres the new thread as the other one is almost full.

And I have no idea why I'm still getting involved as we had no snow

Just back from the preschool run. DD1 'helped' me pull DD2 on the sledge. Shes a tiny 21mths and looks so small on the sledge... very cute!

Still plenty of snow about and its abit slippy underfoot now.

Thought I overheard a forecast earlier on tv talking about the possibility of more snow next week??

Any truth in this? or did I just imagine it? - It was early! :)

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 06/02/2012 09:54

We only had a couple of hours of light snow on Saturday and that was it!

We'd better get more sometime soon - if you can't go sledging it's just not worth it!

TobyLeWolef · 06/02/2012 10:08

We had plenty in my part of Kent and it's still thick on the ground. Main roads are clear, though, and schools are open.

I want more, dammit!

GloriaSmud · 06/02/2012 10:10

Melting quite quickly here in Leicester and the car's temp guage is saying it's 2C. Idiot that I am took a 'country route' coming back from dropping DDs off at school and it was still rather slippery and slushy under wheel on those roads. Had to remind myself to slow down because even the slushy bits are slippery!

notveryinventive · 06/02/2012 10:48

still lots on the ground in York. Please not more snow, it needs to go :)

headfairy · 06/02/2012 11:40

Still quite a bit in East Surrey.... got totally stuck taking ds to school, 45 mins of spinning wheels to get my car out of the snow. Ds came up with some useful advice though "why don't we blow up the car mummy?" Hmm

It's wierd how oddly localised it is, on my drive to work I skidded and slid about until I got on to the M25 at jct 8, and almost instantly there was no snow, then tons again in Buckinghamshire around jct 15 of M25. Loads along the A40 towards London, then gone again just after Northolt.

Netweather are showing flurries for the rest of the week for us, metcheck seems to have crashed on me, perhaps there are too many people trying to work out what's going to happen :o

headfairy · 06/02/2012 11:43

Obv That's exactly what I thought this morning as I took ds to school, it looks Dickensian. Esp as his school in on a common, it's an old Victorian school and it's overlooked by a lovely old Victorian church. Covered in snow and swathed in fog it looked like a scene out of a BBC adaptation of a Dickens book :)

GloriaSmud · 06/02/2012 12:12

Someone on met-monkey just posted this about snowmen. Sadly, DH's efforts ours this year looks like the right hand one!

SparkleRainbow · 06/02/2012 12:18

Beautiful snowy scenes here in rural Staffs, about 6 inches, not melting yet, and snow man is still standing. When is the melt coming I hate snow.

WhereAreTheCakes · 06/02/2012 12:35

Absolutely zero!

Gorgeous sunny day with beautiful sunrise on Scottish East coast.

Looks like summer outside! (if you don't look at the people walking around with hats and scarves)

inmysparetime · 06/02/2012 13:06

Aren't hats and scarves standard wear for a Scottish summer Grin?

OhyouBadBadkitten · 06/02/2012 14:43

Afternoon update :)

Cold and pretty much dry for the rest of the week (unless anything short term pops up) Generally the further east you are the colder it will be. Some pretty sharp frosts tomorrow night (perhaps some -8C's again???)

Further ahead - GFS shows thursday 16th as being quite exciting Wink a rather deepish cold low pressure with much precipitation. But that is a long way ahead in forecasting land.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 06/02/2012 14:44

(does that answer your question Pigley? :) )

newmannoggsforheadteacher · 06/02/2012 14:50

netweather also predicting snow for cambridge tonight/tomorrow?? eh?

OhyouBadBadkitten · 06/02/2012 15:08

Looking closer newmann - It does look to be the case that snow showers will clip EA and into cambridgshire over night and into tomorrow :) the rest of us dry (until thursday when there could be some rain/snow for Scotland)

other than that, pretty much dry Grin

MrsDeeBee · 06/02/2012 15:35

Well, we have had snow here in good ol' SE. Smile A good 10cm I would say, enough to go for a good long stretch across the fields with our sibe, who has been very patient waiting for the snow, and enough for the DCs to have a sled in the park.

Lots of fun had by all, melting today though, and very icy and slushy underfoot.

I am keeping everything crossed that this is just the start, and that we have more to come.....Grin

headfairy · 06/02/2012 15:38

OYBBK, wiz zeez forecasts you are really spoiling us :o Fingers crossed for Thursday.. We've still got a good 5cm lying, last night all the snow melt froze solid in the trees so it was really twinkly and pretty. A little top up on Thursday would be fab!

duchesse · 06/02/2012 15:39

None. NOT a flake. [grr]

OhyouBadBadkitten · 06/02/2012 15:47

sounds very pretty headfairy :)

just plain old slushy grey here but not too bad to walk on.

headfairy · 06/02/2012 15:48

yeah, the main roads and pavements are pretty grey and slushy, but I try and stay away from those. Ruins my whole snowy-vision view of the world :o

OhyouBadBadkitten · 06/02/2012 15:50
Grin

As if by magic - snow warnings for EA!

MegBusset · 06/02/2012 18:38

Oh bum

Really don't want any more here (Norwich). Had a lovely time sledding yesterday but was quite relieved to see so much had thawed today.

JooLoo · 06/02/2012 18:48

Forget the ruler. We needed a tape measure! 1 meter fell in one day. 40 cubic meters shovelled by hand to reach the car. Most snow to fall in our area of the Balkans for decades.

OhyouWickedWickedQuilp · 06/02/2012 18:49

crikey jooloo! Shock I have never seen that kind of snow fall Envy

OhyouWickedWickedQuilp · 06/02/2012 18:50

(btw - tis me oybbk if its not obvious. Have changed for Dickens day)
