As requested by our snow guru OYBBK heres the new thread as the other one is almost full.

And I have no idea why I'm still getting involved as we had no snow

OP posts:
JKSLtd · 09/02/2012 18:38

The Met Office site now saying 'heavy snow' for us in Essex tonight if I put in my postcode, but it doesn't say that on the more general forecast.

Guess we'll have to wait and see. Though I won't be staying up to watch as DS2 had me up at 3am.

ohyouBadBadkitten · 09/02/2012 18:46

CM - dont give up!

ohyouBadBadkitten · 09/02/2012 18:50

(though I fear CM as you may be a bit out of luck with the whole thing having seemingly shifted eastwards. So some snow but not the amount that it looked like before)

TheHumancatapult · 09/02/2012 18:50

Can report snowing heavily back home at Stansted

mankyscotslass · 09/02/2012 18:55

OYBBK, hope the meds settle down soon. Sad

Still raining here.

ohyouBadBadkitten · 09/02/2012 18:57

manky, - thats a bummer for you.

pigsinmud · 09/02/2012 18:58

Well my met office weather forecast has changed... 3pm-9pm light snow, 9pm-3am heavy snow and then 3am light snow.

Haven't seen a flake yet so perhaps their light snow is so light it's invisible.

ohyouBadBadkitten · 09/02/2012 19:01

I think the air is so dry that a lot of the light stuff is evaporating before it reaches the ground.

GloriaSmud · 09/02/2012 19:02

Just started snowing here (Leicester.) They've just said on the East Midlands news to expect 1-5cms overnight. The amounts forecast gets less as the day goes on!

TeWihara · 09/02/2012 19:03

Hurrah! DH has just reported that it is snowing outside! Only an hour off schedule Grin (very south-west of the East Midlands)

MegGriffin · 09/02/2012 19:04

My forecast with the met office has changed from no snow 1 hour ago to heavy snow (2 blobs) through the night (near Crawley). This was at the same time Kaddy le Preston on BBc said only a little if any snow tonight Confused

mankyscotslass · 09/02/2012 19:05
Envy
ohyouBadBadkitten · 09/02/2012 19:09

Looked at met office site and brighton is now down for heavy snow. That will please some here :)

mostboringchatnickname · 09/02/2012 19:09

But is the Met Office change reflected in what you've seen in the models? Hoping it isn't some big mistake!

mostboringchatnickname · 09/02/2012 19:10

Am suspicious because they haven't changed their weather warnings.

ohyouBadBadkitten · 09/02/2012 19:11

all the towns around me have different amounts of snow flakes for different times. I think its all a bit hard to tell. I think its going to be a case for 'look out of the window'.

ohyouBadBadkitten · 09/02/2012 19:12

it is not reflected in the weather models mostboring! which could mean they are all wrong!

ohyouBadBadkitten · 09/02/2012 19:14

(ok, I am going for a bath and when I emerge I expect to see snow out of my window

mostboringchatnickname · 09/02/2012 19:14

Aren't the forecasts based on the models then? [clueless here]

I have a special outdoor light I put on when it's snowing after dark as I love watching it. Ds calls it 'the snow light' Grin.

denialandpanic · 09/02/2012 19:15

I know nothing about anything but that left hand side of the splodge looks a lot further east than met office warnings and if it keeps on course tracking west london and surrey will get a lot more than forecast, surely?

denialandpanic · 09/02/2012 19:16

I mean on the raintoday radar

Kayzr · 09/02/2012 19:17

It's stopped here now. I want a snow day tomorrow. I am tired. Please

QED · 09/02/2012 19:33

Has stopped around York as well. Children are with XH - I think I just felt bad that they have a two minute walk to school when they are with me and then a rather longer car journey when they're at his house. And DD hates it if they are late (but with the snow they have been going in when they get to school which eases the feeling of missing "the line" going in)

pepperrabbit · 09/02/2012 19:39

We have nearly snow in NE hampshire Smile
Looks like sleet coming down but seems to be settling on car roofs Confused

lubeybooby · 09/02/2012 19:43

Finally have micro flakes here. Can see this being another let down!
