As requested by our snow guru OYBBK heres the new thread as the other one is almost full.

And I have no idea why I'm still getting involved as we had no snow

But how come the same cloud drops snow on North Manchester and freezing cold rain on us?

TeWihara · 08/02/2012 08:32

ooh looks good on friday for me Grin

headfairy · 08/02/2012 09:44

Still -1 here and little flurries of graupel so far this morning. OYBBK, where do you reckon the line between snow and sleet/ rain will fall this time? I'm hoping we're east enough on the Surrey/Kent/Sussex border if only so ds can stop asking when it's going to now again!

MiraNova · 08/02/2012 10:09

We're driving from near Guildford in Surrey, to the French Alps, via Eurotunnel, early on Saturday morning - I've had a look at the met office site, and it doesn't seem to be forecasting snow, but BBC weather is now saying light snow on Friday evening..

Any insight as to what weather we can expect would be very welcome..

GloriaSmud · 08/02/2012 10:12

-4 at 8am this morning. Am Grin at lubey 'reporting in' her temperature at 1am!
Just watched the weather on News24 and (from memory), they think the position of the snow on Friday could be right over the middle of England, covering Birmingham, possibly as far South as London/the M4 corridor and as far North as South Yorkshire. It was sort of a big oval white blob over those areas!

GloriaSmud · 08/02/2012 10:16

Some thoughts about the snow from netweather.

notveryinventive · 08/02/2012 10:22

Snow still here (York) from last weekend with no signs of it going anywhere. Its really cloudy all the time. The forecast is to have some sleet on Thurs through to Friday and snow friday night. Im hoping it will be more rain than snow as I really need it to go soon.

Please can I make a request to future posts? Please can people mention in their posts where they are? Saying there's snow here doesnt mean anything to me if I dont know where here is and Im too lazy to be trawling through the thread to find out Thanks Grin

tak1ngchances · 08/02/2012 10:24

I am in SW London where it is fruzzing with quite a snow-y look about the sky. Flying to Manchester on Friday.

TeWihara · 08/02/2012 10:25

wow, we are right in the middle of that blob so if netweather is right 20cm would be twice as much as we had last weekend and their is still frozen snow on the ground here.

TeWihara · 08/02/2012 10:26

sorry nvi, we are at the very bottom of the east midlands.

notveryinventive · 08/02/2012 10:30

GloriaSmud · 08/02/2012 10:33

I post so often in the weather section, I always argue with myself as to whether I should put that I'm in Leicester in all my posts!

TheHumancatapult · 08/02/2012 10:33

any thoughts /Stansted ?cambridge away , am hoping ds3 is well enough to be transfered back to Cambridge .And was hoping for vistors Sad .Cant have vistors at the monet as ds3 is to poorly so i not seen anoher non hospital person for a week now

But can report Stansted way there is still quite bit of snow on the ground

mostboringchatnickname · 08/02/2012 10:34

OYBBK keen for your take on potential for Friday night in the SE!

notveryinventive · 08/02/2012 10:34

I suppose I can see what you mean gloria I should just look outside really to see what the weather is like here Grin

GloriaSmud · 08/02/2012 10:35

Netweather's saying we might have 'icy rain' on Friday and not snow! I'm going with the metoffice as they're the ones saying 'heavy snow'

GloriaSmud · 08/02/2012 10:42

Humancatapult ~ metoffice are going for 'light snow' for the area, Thurs night and Friday but nothing else forecast snow~wise after that.
Hope your little lad is better soon.

notveryinventive ~ Grin

TobyLeWolef · 08/02/2012 10:42

Oooh, so there could be more on the way, then?

Graupel (I'm so happy I learned a new word!) flurries this morning and -3 in the car at 9am. Right in the middle of Kent.

tak1ngchances · 08/02/2012 10:45

SW London now has some form of micro-precipitation. Cannot tell if it's sleety or rainy as it's so small!

notveryinventive · 08/02/2012 10:46

Im going with netweather because everyone else says sleet in York whereas that just says icy rain, even though the pictures look like sleet Hmm

mankyscotslass · 08/02/2012 10:54

Sleet for us here on Thursday/Friday too.

lubeybooby · 08/02/2012 11:25

Another nail biting build up for me to the possibility of decent snow - if we do get it it had better not all melt within a day

DamnDeDoubtance · 08/02/2012 11:28

Second mostboringchatnickname hows it looking for the south east?

When I look at the rain on the radar it looks like it has to pass over us, could be wishful thinking on my part. Smile

letseatgrandma · 08/02/2012 11:34

I'm going with the metoffice as they're the ones saying 'heavy snow'

I can't see a forecast for heavy snow on the Met Office website?!

GloriaSmud · 08/02/2012 11:39

Oh bum, they've changed it to 'light snow!' The weather lot on News24 and on the BBC 5 day forecast, still seem to think 'heavy snow' though.
