No met ofice warnings at the moment and the path of the storm is still uncertain, but at the moment I think there is potential for widespread severe gales - just unsure of where atm.

possible tornado report
any one from that part of london please?

OhyouBadBadkitten · 03/01/2012 20:01

possibly one Clacton
however remember that in these squall lines down bursts can cause similar severe damage as can winds funnelling. And look at around Edinburgh - house roofs ripped off from pure straightline winds, so just cos the press call it a tornado, doesnt mean it is one.

Thanks Edustudent - really hoping will have all calmed down by tomorrow - the wind is very strong here too at the mo (germany) and am not looking forward to the journey tomorrow.

DOver hasn't been closed since fortunately so fingers crossed all will be well.

w mids it was quite windy here this morning. we have a couple of fence panels down and the sides of the roads are littered with branches about 8 to 10 foot long. mainly the long spindly ones though. in some places the pavements would be impassable with a pushchair there are that many. the rain was pouring down the windows here and possibly hail or something mixed in. it was dryish by 12.30 though there were still squally showers later. the noise of the wind in the trees was phenomenal, and the bushes and evergreens were thrashing about in the wind and almost horizontal rain at the beginning and end of the shower especially. the outdoor chairs at the cafe were blown across the yard.

Got home and found that part of the roof of the lean to between te house and the garage is gone.

Only corrugated plastic stuff, but hey, they have survived the last 3 years.

Hope it landed somewhere safe and didnt hurt property or people :(

It's still soooo windy here in Suffolk. We're in a tiny rattly holiday cottage, poor DS is finding sleeping difficult and the dogs are on a knife edge.
