No met ofice warnings at the moment and the path of the storm is still uncertain, but at the moment I think there is potential for widespread severe gales - just unsure of where atm.

OP posts:

Sean Batty (Scottish weather guy) has just tweeted 102 mph at Blackford Hill, Edinburgh.

Ginfox · 03/01/2012 09:48

I'm in Fife. This one seems/sounds much worse than Bawbag, but might just be that the wind is hitting the house from a different direction? We've got doors and windows rattling (dunno why, not a draughty house). Just been out to chase the compost bin around the garden - got the bugger in the end though. Neighbours trampoline is in bits, and I can see a few folk have lost roof slates.

Stay safe everyone.

EduStuckUpTheChimney · 03/01/2012 09:53

Just sat and watched the rain water being blown up hill Confused

Am in a normally very sheltered part of the Midlands.

Piffpaffpoff · 03/01/2012 09:54

Ginfox I'm in Fife too and this is definitely much worse than Bawbag. We have 5 slates off the front of the house that I can see, and probably more off the back but I can't check that until the wind dies down. My windows are flexing! I'm a bit scared, but my lovely mum has already phoned to check I'm ok.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 03/01/2012 09:55

All the central belt bridges (Forth, Tay etc but for some reason NOT the fRiarton!!0 are closed. All trains have been suspended too! Im in the red warning area :(

MistleTobyLeWolef · 03/01/2012 09:55

It's awful here (Kent). The trees outside my office window are being blown almost parallel to the ground.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 03/01/2012 09:58

Fife buses now suspended too. Dont think they did that for Hurricane Bawbag!

Ginfox · 03/01/2012 09:59

Bloody hell Piff! Better close your curtains in case the glass blows in.

JennyPiccolo · 03/01/2012 10:00

Christmas tree in george square has blown down, apparently.

Piffpaffpoff · 03/01/2012 10:30

Ginfox, I have Blackout blinds down and curtains closed!! Just been out to check the roof and noticed my shed at the side of the house has tipped over. The good news (for now) is that it is wedged against the house so can't go anywhere further. God knows how we'll get it back in place!

stormyseason · 03/01/2012 10:36

115 mph recorded in Dunfermline. The town centre has now been closed.

Piffpaffpoff · 03/01/2012 10:38

I'm in Dunfermline!!!!!!

Ginfox · 03/01/2012 10:51

Where did you hear that Stormy? I think they closed it for Bawbag too, presumably 'cos of potential for xmas lights falling on people.

highriggs · 03/01/2012 11:02

Chimney stacks down in our street, this is worse than bawbag . Edinburgh

GlaikitFizzog · 03/01/2012 11:05

Seems to have calmed down here a wee bit. No flights in or out of Edinburgh airport though.

Hogmanayhoneyblossom · 03/01/2012 11:13

It woke me up during the night, there was so much noise from things being blown about. Quiet now though. ( Scotland central belt)

stormyseason · 03/01/2012 11:16

Came up on my FB feed from the Council.

IwoulddoPachacuti · 03/01/2012 11:16

It's mental out there! I've got to drive to work later, not looking forward to it.

I'm only a few miles away from Dunfermline!

Labradorlover · 03/01/2012 11:19

Only just woken up. Knew it was windy as DD snuck into bed earlier. But I managed to sleep through yet more tiles coming off the roof and smashing in the garden. Roofer booked for next week to sort out the damage from Bawbag........Edinburgh

Piffpaffpoff · 03/01/2012 11:19

It's definitely just 'very windy' now rather than terrifying. Quite pleased cos it's excellent drying weather and I've loads of washing to go out!!!!

GlaikitFizzog · 03/01/2012 11:42

Livingston centre and outlets have closed.

JennyPiccolo · 03/01/2012 11:42

just fired out to the shop and it's pretty calm now in glasgow. Pavements littered with roof tiles, though. Definitely worse than bawbag.

stormyseason · 03/01/2012 11:52

Seems a bit quieter here near Kinross.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 03/01/2012 12:36

For central belt Scotland it is windier than Bawbag. Will be back soon to talk about what occurred (need some lunch first)

Two of our fences have collapsed and it was very very wet but calming down now.

mankyscotslass · 03/01/2012 12:49

Windy here now and just walked back from the post office in a hail squall!
