Just come back in to see it all go mad on the weather front in the SE. Be aware that the developing storms may produce damaging hail, flash flooding, c-g strikes (unplug those pcs if there is a storm about) and strong squally winds.

It's just started raining. Supposed to be meeting friends in the park at 2. I love a good walk in the rain personally but I bet they get all woosy-woo and want to cancel!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2011 13:19

classic radar image on met office for a line of possibly severe storms developing (look at rainfall view)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2011 13:20

No umbrellas or sheltering under trees cattleprod - otherwise enjoy!!

meditrina · 28/06/2011 13:21

DCs have matches and outdoors after school activities!

Thanks for posting - I'll be taking kagoules (which I might not otherwise have done, as it still looks OK here).

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2011 13:22

Big storm wimbledon ish way!!

OP posts:
TobyLerone · 28/06/2011 13:23

It's raining here, too. Nothing major though. Just started.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2011 13:24

you are welcome meditrina. Wet and rumbly here, lightning all medium level stuff (down towards southern end of the line of storms).

Ok, that was more 'drainpipe thunder'. Will be switching over to netbook soon me thinks.

TobyLerone · 28/06/2011 13:24

I WANT THUNDER AND LIGHTNING DAMMIT!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2011 13:25

We had quite a prolonged period of on/off rain before it started sounding grumpy if that helps, but we are on the edge and going to miss all the really interesting stuff.

Cattleprod · 28/06/2011 13:26

We've had 3 rumbles now (south coast)

meditrina · 28/06/2011 13:27

What on earth is "drainpipe thunder"?

going · 28/06/2011 13:27

Couldn't tell if it was thunder or wheelies bins being moved around - so many rumbles!

TobyLerone · 28/06/2011 13:28

It's stopped raining again now (E. Kent).

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2011 13:28

sky gone a bit 'greeny' usually a good sign (unless you are cycling in it which I will be in a bit!)

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2011 13:29

Its that prolonged hollow sounding thunder meditrina (sorry, its not an official term, its a personal one)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2011 13:31

Main line is currently west of you TobyL. As it moves north I think it will move east too, so you may catch some later. The main storm line is very sharply defined at the moment.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2011 13:33

oh.
that was a good strike. Just as I was about to head out.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2011 13:33

Anyone in west London please?? reports wanted!

OP posts:
TobyLerone · 28/06/2011 13:35

Yeah, I just looked at the Met Office radar wossname. We're in for it later, by the looks of it. 4pm ish.

Antidote · 28/06/2011 13:37

I think I've got a bit of a crush on OYBBK Blush

I was about to check the weather and thought to myself, I bet the nice lady on mumsnet will have warned us if we are due thunder!

Really humid and rumbly here in east London, but no rain yet.....

It is waiting till I have to leave for swimming isn't it?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2011 13:41

probably is waiting til you leave antidote Grin

You are very kind but I was a bit late on this one (due to being out when it all kicked off) still better late than never. You might escape the worst of this line.
