rosieposey · 18/12/2010 07:31

Im sitting up looking out of the window watching it snow, Its a good covering too, enough to go sledging :) Snow in Swindon at last :)

paperclips hope you get to MK alright today, its not that heavy out there and cars do seem to still be getting around.

TeuchnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 18/12/2010 08:16

damn it's cold! No more snow forecast for us I think - OYBBK? Inner hebrides.

Met office has us at -5 but I think my reading says -3. Feels like -10.

I am thinking it may be too cold to play in the snow!

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 08:24

posting this to another weather thread but didnt want to abandon this one :)

Basically, some people, primarily in a band from the top end of Wales, through Oxfordshire and then Sussex will have a lot of snow. the band seems almost stationary through the morning.
This afternoon the London area will have a big problem.

Away from the snow band you are basically ok.

Some uncertainties tomorrow - primarily for the SW, East Anglia (first thing) and the north east (and perhaps yorkshire) Models are in disagreement for the detail. In general, if you have managed to dig yourselves out then tomorrow looks like a much better travelling day.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 08:26

oops - should add that for today, the snow north of Leeds will in general move out by lunchtime and the nE through Scotland will have snow showers. The white stuff outside my window is a bit distracting!

Teuch - Hebrides do look ok today - it seems to be steering around them :)

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 08:33

Snow is falling all around me, children playing having fun la la la.

Actually - it looks more like a grimly determined snowfall!

mankyscotslass · 18/12/2010 08:38
Sad

An inch overnight. If that.

But I will still need to get out and clear the path or it will be a nightmare later.

Not enough snow to moake a snowman though.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 08:40

BA announcement about flights

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 08:42

:( Manky - thats the worst of both worlds really. pointless snow.

mankyscotslass · 18/12/2010 08:48

I know.

lal123 · 18/12/2010 08:58

And STILL no snow here in Dundee thank God! Think we must be the only clear patch in the UK by the sound of things!

WilfShelf · 18/12/2010 09:00

We've had about two inches overnight and it is snowing lightly but steadily now. Kids are clamouring to build a snowman but I'm putting them off until I've drunk my tea.

SuePurblybiltbyElves · 18/12/2010 09:01

SNOW! Over 15cm standing on top of fenceposts in the garden and over a foot down. Over my wellies!

My hens have taken to their beds in disgust and the rabbit is very confused. Off to harness the dog to the sledge and go to the shop. Excellent.

Kitten - I need it gone by Wednesday if you wouldn't mind? Thanks ever so Xmas Grin

ajandjjmum · 18/12/2010 09:04

Thank you kitten and everyone who's contributed.

My panic reaction in altering a flight and taking our visitor to Heathrow to return home yesterday, rather than today, suddenly looks justified. Phew!!!

Still snowing lightly here in the West Midlands but quite an accumulation has built up overnight.

Safe travelling everyone. Xmas Smile

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 09:05

Blimey Sue.

Am off out getting supplies - back in a bit.

PartridgeinaRustyBearTree · 18/12/2010 09:28

Thanks to this thread, DH decided to get off work a bit early and get DD from Exeter yesterday - the round trip from where he was working in Kingston to Exeter & back home to Wokingham took 9 hours, including a stop for a meal and time to pack all DD's shoes essential stuff into the car.

I'm so glad he did, as it is coming down steadily at the moment. As I also did all the weekend shopping last night instead of leaving it till Saturday morning as I usually do, I am now feeling quite smug - karma probably means that we'lll get a power cut - last big snow we had I seem to remember a snow laden branch fell onto some rather vital equipment & blacked out a large area..

Thank you OYBBK!

ledodgy · 18/12/2010 09:29

It is still snowing here! My chilsrean are already in the street playing in it. I need to post a parcel today but I'm not actually sure how!

ledodgy · 18/12/2010 09:31

Of course I mean children. Bloody iPad!

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 09:43

:) You are very welcome RB.

I only walked to the local shop. It is being a bit epic out there. We are supposed to be taking dd out in a bit - uhmming and ahhing. My sensible head says 'don't do it' but I really want to!

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 09:43

happy days ledodgy :)

AitchTwoOh · 18/12/2010 09:56

SNOW!

grumpykat25 · 18/12/2010 09:59

Sitting in my well stocked (zombie plan meets weather obsessing) and cosy house watching the snow! In Birmingham! At last! Xmas Grin Now if only dh didn't have a serious case of man bug everything would be wonderful.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 10:03

Excellent apart from the buggies grumpykat.

It has been very interesting to see how the models did or did not verify for today.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 10:16

we are going out. Think we might be nuts. I really hope we don't have a tale of woe to tell when we get back. dh thinks we will be fine.

SuePurblybiltbyElves · 18/12/2010 10:21

Rest of the village is snowy but not as high - it seems to have drifted hugely in my back garden. More like 15-20cm everywhere.
